Or is it not a problem and I shouldn't be worried about it? I keep thinking it's going to completely pull out whenever I disconnect the pipe to lift the tank up

sounds a bit tricky- finding anyone who'll weld or braise it unlikely as an empty fuel tank+flame=bomb- maybe some of the tank seal putty stuff or liquid metal possibly???
braising probably best job if someone willing to do it after inside tank steam cleaned- would need a respray after though

Thanks Miles I think I,ll try some sort of bonding compound. I did try and build up a bit of body filler round it last time I painted the tank but it eventually broke away

I fixed a leaking tank with a compound called JB WELD, it is the only one the fuel did not break down. Not expensive and you can get it from Halfords etc. Should do the trick.

I will give some of that a go.

Evening

Where abouts can I get the right sized bolts to blank off the neutral switch and oil thingy?

And as I don't have a mechanical rev counter, does the spinny thing needs to be removed and blanked as well?

Cheers

blanking bolt for neutral is a m8x 1.0mm pitch about 16/20mm long and a copper or alu washer- probably have to buy longer 1 and cut it down to length of switch- not sure oil light size as i decided put in brand new sensor instead- any metalwork supplier or maybe ebay

Oil Pressure switch thread is M10 X 1.00mm
