Am I correct in my understanding of where things sit at present. No decission yet on the class and the options being discussed now are 1. 583 only 2. 583/674/620 all together 3. 583's and 674/620 running seperate classes but racing together Everything else generally agreed except regulations regarding the brakes? Is it not worth having a poll amongst interested parties so that opinion is clear, the brake issue can then be sorted following decission on the class. Having read all that has been said about pro's and con's and cost my prefered route would be - 1st year 583's. Entry level racing for the newcomers and more experienced riders wanting to have some fun, minimal outlay. 2nd year if things take off open up the class to 583/674/620. People who have raced in the first year have a base bike they can modify - spreading the cost over 2 seasons or a bike to sell on and buy into the 620. I don't mind which number I get allocated because at the end of the season it will have the no1 on it anyway - bit of fun racing my ar**:sing: |
Following a conversation with Monty last night and pending a proper discussion tomorrow, the most likely option at present is No 3. That is 583 and 620+675, all on the same grid together. This enables people to start with minimum modification in year one and fit the bigbore kit for year two if they want; facilitates the current bike into the series and excludes no one. We feel that with a modicum of ability the 583s are going to get in with the others anyway, might just be down on power down the back straight at Sneterton (if we go there). The brake issue will be discussed end of next week and a statement issued, current feeling is allowing twin front discs, but that caliper should be std, after market equivalent rotors allowed (obviously no WSB left overs or anything like that). We now have reached the 25% mark on deposits, so kee[ sending in your forms pleas, it looks as if we have a goer here. Chris |
Chris/Monty, IMHO the discussions are paying off now. I know I'll sound like a stuck record but I agree that a 583 with limited mods (Dynojet/K&N/can + std everything else) will be close to a 620 up to a point and will provide a worthwhile grid and racing. Then those with 620/675/minitwins/money can have their own battles and probably a natural cap on mods/cost will evolve over a couple of years. Will the ACU/New Era sanction two classes in the same series? If your two class plan is a goer the chequebook will be dusted off ....... Paul |
Folks, The postman has been and I now have 9 of you putting your wallet into this endevour, thank you. As I have posted on the main thread I beleive that the final tweaks to the rules will be sorted end of next week. So please get your forms in so that we can make this happen. Chris |
