Glum... I'd promised I would give my bike a really good fettle. New tyres, finally get the right hand side sprayed and sorted properly after my last lowside (well it was a year ago), get the wheels powder coated in black, fit the new (to me - thanks to Marko) DP exhausts and fit all the little bits and pieces I've aquired such as the ventura rack kit that I got off Senna3 and the Casoli mudguard I got from eBay. All that and give it a Cornerspeed service as a reward for another year spent chasing 999's and 996's about the country. Haven't had time to do any of it yet. What's making it worse is that I'm completely borrasic. I've finally had to bite the bullet and get a landscape gardener in to put up fences, build retaining walls and patios. I don't get time for all that, 'cos I'm out chasing 999's and 996's most weekends, but my day passes are in jeopardy if Mrs Jools doesn't get the garden sorted out for her to bask in while I'm away on rideouts On top of that, my son has just presented me with the bill for his tuition fees and accomodation for the first term of his final year at Uni. It's over a grand more than expected. So I'm sitting here feeling right glum. Not only have I missed a couple of cracking rideouts while my bike has been waiting for tyres and sundry bits, but now I haven't go the money to do any of the bits I wanted to do on it (except for the money I owe Marko for the zorsts). So basically, I took it off the road for the last month for nothing... What really rubs salt in, is that with the money I've spent on the garden and on my son I could've gone out and ordered a 2005 999... Ah well, I guess I'll just have to keep repeating the mantra...when my son finishes uni...when the garden is round...when my daughters wedding is paid for next year...when the car's paid for...when...when...when...then I'll order a new Ducati. That'll be about 2010 then :( [Edited on 21-10-2004 by Jools] |
I'ts funny (well actually it isn't funny at all) how a new bike is always at the bottom of the list, and anything else that is needed goes above it when you're part of a family. I want a Multistrada - I want a Monster S4R - I want a 749 but I've still got my SS that I've had for 4.1/2 years.:sniff: Oh well a least it stops me from having to chose - maybe next year or the next or the next or ------- |
Jools!:o Group hug, my sweet:) It will get better - just keep saying it (like I do) C |
"You reep what you sow." You're investing in the most important thing - family; Enjoy it Jools. There'll be plenty of time for all that Ducati milarkey when the kids are all married off and ignoring you:D:D:D Tim:frog: |
Jools At least you can say its to keep the family happy!! I am just broke for dull reasons (new kitchen/CH/car) and i have to sit and listen to Freak getting excited about all the fancy bits for his new bike :P |
yo jools chin up old chap while your fettle ing your ickle st you might want to consider an engine up grade, get the quick one like mine:D in reality though it pays to remember that these bikes are just our toys, and of course family will always come first (not sure about gardens though). p.s if you haven't picked them zorsts up yet give us a u2u when there ready and i'll grab um for ya |
Jools Yup life can seen rather glum from time to time, but at least with darker evenings earlier, then riding takes a likkle less of the time I do sympathise tho', however as others have said, Family comes first, second and third, then the blurdy garden, and unfortunately for us 2 wheel addicts, bikes come way down the list. So think positive and soon the dosh will be flowing again and st times will be back upon you. In the meantime I wish you sucess for second prize in this weeks lottery, as Im wishing 1st prize for me so I can share it wiff you lot, not. But if I did, Id get you a new set of rubber so we could have a weekend pootle Bestest mort ps any jobs in your area for an old layabout? |

Take no notice of of Tim, Jools. Even when they have flown the nest, they still find reason to come back and haunt you. |
I said it before and I'll say it again, borrow my bike on Sunday, Jools. I definitely won't be riding it as (1) my leg and back are too sore after dropping it yesterday and (2) I've been asked to prepare a presentation for Monday which I shall be working on all day Sunday. So, U2U me, I'll give you directions to my house and you can come round and collect it, preferably Saturday afternoon. Actually I'd appreciate you doing a bit of a 'diagnostic test ride' to see if there's anything wrong with it (apart from a badly dented tank, that is). AND SMILE :lol::lol::lol: |
Hey keep your pecker up Jools I know how you feel especially this time of year :( Been getting some stick lately about what I spend on the bike with insurance recently up in conjunction with annual service and loads of things to pay for on the domestic front.... The wife has now nicknamed the bike as Doris as in Doris Ducati or the other woman. As if I'd be that silly to play away from home with a mechanical inanimate object - as if eh? Hope to see you on a ride soon mate and promise not to cause any 'senior moments' for you! ;):o |
