No! The death of an absolute legend

Sorry to break the news but John Peel died on a holiday in Peru today.
This man was intrumental in bringing the whole spectrum of music to several gerations.
He outlasted all other djs, producers, directors and even some listeners on Radio1 and also broadcast on Radio 4such was his cross-platform appeal.
His Saturday Radio 4 programme from 10 - 11 was magical.
I for one will miss him very much.
He was one of maybe 5 tv, radio show hosts whom I would stop what I was doing to listen / watch. The sort of person you'd invite over to a dinner party to keep everyone enthralled.

Damn

Same here - enjoyed his irreverant style on the Radio, especially Home Truths on R4, and also his contribution to the new music scene. :(
