Clutch Problem Taking the 996 for an MOT today, tottling along minding my own business. Came to a roundabout pulled in my clutch, the lever suddenly goes very stiff and I have no drive in any gear at all. Its as if the clutch is on all the time, with about an inch of very tight movement in the lever. I'm new to Ducati ownership so am relying on you guys/girls to spread abit of light on the situation. Thanks in advance |
Give Nelly a call at Cornerspeed, he's there now - 01623 758877 |
Sounds like it could be the seal in the slave cylinder. |

Jeezzz what a fast response Spoke with Nelly (Very helpful) and looks like your right. So thats a new slave cylinder and a service booked too. Cheers |
Nelly's a top man and won't let you down - you're in safe hands. Tim:frog: |
Glad to be of help Mr C. If you getting your bike serviced at Nelly's, ask him about his oversize slave cylinder modification. Reduces the amount of pressure on the lever. If you want to see what it looks like, go to www.jlawson.com/996 There's a pic of one 9th pic down on the right hand side. PS: Bike no longer for sale.....:bouncy: |

Defo going to go for one of the Oversized Slave Cylinders Cheers Chaps |
Good man, you know it makes sense. :sing: |
My initial though was that its a broken push rod. Wouldn't a failed slave cylinder mean that you would get drive but not be able to disengage the clutch? No travel at the lever means something is jaming it somwhere. |
a blown seal would effectively jam up the whole system as the fluid would simply push past it whatever direction the rod tried to move. Never heard of a broken pushrod tho. |
