Kev, Al has tootled off to have a look in his book for finer info.
He says if stuck, you are more than welcome to pop over one evening (Mon - Weds this week??) & he will assist if you like?

Cheers,

C

Which bike is it?, my 748s clicks like they are loose but it is the forks sliding back and forth inside so the dealer said colud be talking rubbish i guess:o

It does it when u push the bike back and forth on the front brake if its any help:D

Its a 998 bip. This click is coming from the headstock I think. You can feel the click on the top yoke, could be wrong though. If its not to much trouble I will check it.
Thanks Kev.

Have you got the manual ?

Red,

You need a special tool to engage into the holes in the headstock nut.
I made one using a couple of 5mm drill shanks set into a block of ally. This fits inside a 32mm socket and that can then be torqued to the correct value (30Nm if I remember correctly).
You then need to back off the nut by 30degrees - use a protractor and a felt tip.

Best thing to do is to strip and re-grease the bearings and then set it up with no weight on the front wheel - a job I'm gonna be doing this weekend.
