Bike Progress ...

Only one bolt has had to be drilled so far, but it looks like those b'stard exhaust downpipe nuts have rusted completely stuck.

Any tips?

Split the side of them off with a small, sharp chisel. or get a nut splitter.
You'll probably get away with running a die up them to clean them and you're sorted.
If you start drilling and swinging on the stud, you could lose the thread in the head and then you'll need a Helicoil.

Also, I'm going to overhaul the carbs and I see that there are a lot of gaskets and o-rings that need replacing.

Is there a kit available from Ducati which contains everything I need to do this?

Thanks mate - will give that a try.

As I'm going for the 680 kit, I'm only worried about getting the fockers off at the moment!

You sure you can handle something that complicated Dickie?

Still, at least it's not far to bring it round mine when you can't figure out which end of the screwdriver to use...

Lol! I'll remind you of that at the end of the season.

Although, if you read "Valentino Rossi - Moto Genius" you'll realise that he did used to fix and tune his own bikes very early on...
