Dilema....What would you do? Hi Guys, As an update on my quest for a new bike (749S) I have been looking at all sorts of bikes and came to find a winner. It is an 04 749s with brand new termis fitted for £8000, it has done 1400 miles. But then, in going back to my original dealer, to get my service record stamped, they offered me a 999 standard with termis, same age, 4000 miles and is a BIP for the same price, might be £300 more, but I am not sure if that was with the seat cover. .....What would you do???? Any opinions would be greatly received. thanks in advance Al |
I recently bought a standard 749 bip, and although it has plenty of power for a numpty like me, I can't help but think I could/should have gone for a 999, so, for my two pennies worth, go for the 999 ;) |
I, foolishly, went on the basis that they are the same insurance group and the same value, therefore the premium should be the same - i'll check tomorrow.:o |
AK, go for the 999, but try and get it for the 749 price, tell the dealer you are torn between the two, see what he says. say you really like the 749, he should try and do something. let us know. Phone Ducati insurance, they are very cheap. |
I've had a 749 for a year now and love the bike. However I do wonder occasionaly what a 999 would be like to ride. I think that the extra bit of power would be nice, but then think about the sense in it. The 749 is already a clear license loser if you want it to be. I've never actually rode a 999 but I do like the fact that you have to work the 749. I used to have a ZXR400 kwak and that was such a laugh giving the engine what for. Gives you the fun sensation at a more reasonable speed. But at the end of the day you can't beat that little bit more BHP  tricky. [Edited on 24-1-2005 by trickz] |
what about the S versus standard issue? which is more valuable? the power or the handling? |
For what its worth i would go for the revvy nature of the 749 any day,but then i suppose i would! |
Don't bother with either as they are bloody ugly :D:lol::lol::lol::lol: |
I was in the same situation - 749 or 999. The 749 is gorgeous to ride and if you like revs, you might prefer it. But I'm a grunter, me, I'm glad I got my 999! It's wonderful being able to engage warp engines when circumstances allow. Alternatively, if I just want to potter, who needs a gear change pedal? :pig: :D [Edited on 24-1-2005 by Loz] |
Insurance is quite a bit more!!! Still not impossible, but I will have to love the bike that much more. I am going to see if I can ride them both back to back and see. Thanks for all your guidance, I am sure there will be more questions coming from me soon. |
