Colour-blindness

Like Antonye, I am also colour blind.

Have just found out that my particular flavour is "strong deutan" (red-green).

The question is, according the the ACU registration form, "applicant must have normal colour vision in that they can distinguish the primary colours red and green".

Is there anywhere on the web that I can check to see the shades that the ACU uses? If they are bright red and green then I am okay, but if it is subtle, it might be a problem for me....

I guess I'll find out in Rugby when they start waving the flags about.....

chi i think you will be ok.

i am red/green clour blind too and crapped myself when i read it!

but i spoke to them (ACU) and they said it would be ok. basically if you can tell a red flag from a green flag you will be ok. i cant make out jack on those little colour charts, but i dont spend all day at a green traffic light waiting for it to change!

My mate is Totaly Colour blind

When he took his driving test

he only got through the traffic light test by remembering the sequence;)

god help him if the lights are ever knocked over:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

dickieducati 28-Jan-2005 18:27

no, but my sight should be ok and as long as i can prove to them i can see red and green i will be ok. they normally have some circles on red and green backgrounds and say 'are they clearer on the red or the green'. i guess if you say "ok show me the other colour now"..............you fail!:lol::lol:

Do they poke you in the eye regularly in Essex or something?

Do you have to be colour blind to live there?

i'm colour blind too but only to the extent that colours fade into each other when i see them at a distance (200 yds +)
i:e all flashing lights on the motorway look GREEN when mixed with the red tail/brake lights of vehicles in front= i could'nt tell you if it is a blue emergency services light or just a yellow beacon from a breakdown/recovery or motorway services truck!!!!!!!
also when looking in a heap of electrical wiring such as a computer loom dont ask me to point to the green wire!!! youll be waiting a very long time!!!!
TRAFFIC LIGHTS ARE ONLY A PROBLEM AT A DISTANCE WHEN ALL THREE LIGHTS ARE ON AT THE SAME TIME!!!
so there is my excuse at the starting grid especially if im near the back (i probably would be)
the upshot of it is when red, green and yellow are close together i cant tell the difference between the colours
was advised not to take up the profession of electrician-hgv driver or painter and decorator!!!!!!
