fast idle lever

I'm wanting to ditch the LH switch gear on my 749 as it's only being used on track this year. No problems losing the indicator / hilo beam / horn switches but I'd like to retain a fast idle lever. Does anybody know of a suitable part (perhaps of another bike) that would take the barrel end of the fast idle cable? Thinking about ringing round some breakers to ask but I thought I'd check here first.

fast idle?? better known as the choke lever. you could alsways run a pull and push type lever and cable to somewhere off the switch gear like some imports have them near the clocks.

Thought about that but ideally I'd like to fit something that doesn't look to Heath Robinson.

BTW - it's a fast idle cos all it does is increase the engine speed. It doesn't alter the richness of the mixture like a choke.

Not sure what the 999 fast idle cable is like but was wondering if the pull type choke cable found on 92 to 99 Fireblades would work.

cheers Skidlids - do you reckon a call to your mates at reservoircogs or bike-enders would be in order?

Choke/fast idle levers.

Hmm,older Dukes,(Pantah's and the like)had a neat little lever mounted on the clutch assembly, like this.

I dont think it would fit a 749/999 tho.
How about this sort of thing?

As used on old Brit bikes,MZ's and some BMW's.
(Can also be seen on some petrol lawnmowers as a throttle!;) )

just use the fast idle lever from a 998 as its seperate from the switchgear it'll fil without problem .
did it to my bike without any problems

If the throttle cables are interchangeable or you can swap them over??? Use a 748/996 throttle assembly with the push in button underneath.
The "choke" on FI bikes only cocks the throttles a little to help the starting.

when you push it back it is far from idle! more like cruise control it is there for when you first fire your bike up (if needed) which makes it a choke lever :frog:
