Prices Have taken a Dive. But don\'t give it away!

I have noticed for some time now that since the new 999 999s 999r 05 range are now out, all 999 999s 999r before 05 are taken a big price drop. Just because it has a new top fairing and they have swop the engines around to get that few extra BHP everyone seems to be going nuts trying to sell, there not so old bikes.
Why ?
We all love our bikes and to go out i the first place and part with a large chunk of cash for a bike that has the name Ducati on it ment something at the time and for many still does, so why role over a give it away.
Most bikes are Ducati dealer serviced because we all want to keep in the warranty. We have already given Ducati large sums of money to buy the bike, then to service the bike. Then to do it all over again is just nuts.
"I bet service costs won't drop like the bike prices"
So i think it's time to make a stand and STOP giving your good as new 999s away for silly money. At the prices i have seen, they could start to look cheap.
Come on give your views on this one.

:D

You can't do nothing about it and it's only natural that prices will drop and continue to drop.
The 05 999's are way better looking IMO (new front fairing, painted red frame....) have a new swingarm (the same as the previous R) a more powerful and tuned engine, weight less......... (and you have radial mounted brakes on the S now) so in all is a (much?) better and more apealling bike that the previous ones.

Does anyone on this site buy a new bike because it has extra bhp over the old one? surely not. A slight change to the fairings cant warrant a change, can it. I must admit I do like the radial brakes, not enough to swap bikes, better swap the forks on your present bike much cheaper.

market

I dont think any sportsbikes are selling and Dukes are no longer the out of reach must have exotica they are now main stream, you can pick up a nice 748 for the price of a lot of jap bikes.
the 916/monster changed everything for ever and there is no return to exclucivity unless they bring out the V4.:(

You're forgeting the new swingarm.
And the whole new package is just way more apealing and more effective.
Hell the standard 999 has the same hp than the previous R.
But if you prefer the older models, go ahead..... :D:D
