Front wheel problem..
 

Bearings?? My bike has just 848 miles..just back from a trackday tonight at Brands... It was feeling strange on the track..I though was me. While loadind the bike on the trailer..again was like it was heavier than usual!! I got home and the front wheel turns bad and make a noise. Looks like the front brakes are on... but the front brakes calipers looks like working fine..can be the bearings?
Does anyone else experienced something similar? I am going to take the front wheel down tomorrow and check the bearings...:puzzled:

Thats not good after 848 miles, could it be warped discs, worth checking along with the bearings

If you don’t follow the proper installation sequence for the front wheel, you can incorrectly align the front axle in the forks which will cause handling oddities. I suppose it could also cause disc to caliper misallignment as well.

The common mistake is to just tighten everything up after inserting the axle. Instead, you need to first hold the axle by torquing (19Nm) the two axle clamp bolts on the RIGHT fork to hold the axle so that you can then torque (63Nm) the 28mm axle nut.

Then, you should torque the two axle clamp bolts on the LEFT fork. The axle is now securely fastened to the left fork

Now, you need to loosen the two RIGHT side clamp bolts.

Take the bike off the paddock stand, and bounce the suspension up and down till you are sure that the right side fork has moved to the proper (neutral) position along the axle. (It makes it easier to compress the suspension if you hold the front brake on when rocking the bike forward.)

Once this is done, re-torque the two RIGHT fork clamp bolts and you’re done.

I'd be interested to hear what the problem is/was Brogins. Check the colur of your brake discs to check it's not brake related. If you've been riding against them on the track, they will have turned a bit blue-ish..

I just checked the brakes and it looks like that the pads are against the discs. I did follow Shazaam procedure the only time I took the wheel down, so it should be fine. I also rode for more than 400 miles after with no problem. My only doubt can be the torque value, as I did convert these in foot/pounds (my torque wrench was bought in US while there)... So I may overtitighed the axial nut, but It is a remote possibility.
The discs are looking fine, no blueish color. Can be the pads for some reason, may be high temperature, sticking now on the discs?
I will have to take the wheel down anyway to check.. and may be replace the pads already?? is 800 miles the life I can expect with only two track days?

Brogins - looks like you've got the same problem myself, Necroscope and Spartacus have had. Don't ride the bike, get it to your dealer and have them inspect it as I'm assuming it's still under warranty.

Was your bike registered around May 2004? What model is it?

Well, it is a 999 2005 with just few months... registered last March.
What was the problem of your bike? I definetly will give a call to the dealer tomorrow...

I don't know what the problem was with my bike - over 3 months have passed and I'm still waiting for Ducati/Brembo to tell me why my bike threw me off :flame:

I thought it was a rogue batch of callipers, but with your bike being so new that can't be right. If your bike has the same problem as mine, that would indicate to me a possible assembly line, manufacturing tolerance or design fault.

Only 800 miles and allready 2 track days? tut tut tut!

Are you sure the noise isnt just the cintered pads grinding?

Sounds like brakes sticking on to me Andy...
