Are all year 620\'s the same ? I know 0 about ducati's so can someone tell me what the difference is in a 2003 monster 620 and a 2005 monster 620 ? thanks :) |
Not a great deal with regards to racing one - the biggest difference is that the later models are 6 speed bikes. I have/had an 03 model which is a 5 speed. I think the 6 speed is definitely the way to go. |
Thanks TP What year did they go 6-speed ? Also am I right that the following is as far as mods allow ? Standard engine Exhaust and PC Rear Shock and Fork revalve Belly Pan And is the monster the only 620 available to race, I'm also assuming as I have 3 years racing behind me I can only go the 620 route ? |

There was an 's' version in 2003 which had a 6 speed box. I think it became standard in 05? Not sure, I'd just check the ones you're looking at to make sure. Just don't get a dark, I think these are single front disk. You really don't need to upgrade the brakes, although you can. I ran the standard brakes on mine apart from Performance Friction pads. As for mods I'm pretty sure that's about it. You can put a power commander on as well if you're super keen. I didn't though. I'm not sure about next rules and series eligibility. I'm kind of out of the loop at the moment as I'm no longer racing in the series and I'm not racing in it next year. Soemone should be along to help you out shortly I hope. Good luck though :D |
Thanks TP :) Anyone else want to comment ? Would I have to show my interest now and make sure of a place before I start building a bike ? For this cost me and the gf could both race and still be saving money ! |
05 models have larger valves and a variety of front brake set ups (depends what they had at the time!) Butch |
Is a monster the No.1 choice for the bigger class or should I look at other models ? :) |
The 05 models also have a slipper clutch. 02 onwards only the Dark has 5speed and single disk others are 6speed. 05 has 2pot sliding caliper brakes 300mm discs. Earlier ones have 320mm discs and 4pot goldline calipers. I'm fairly sure thats right, but I'm sure someone will be along if not  |

Hmmm, Nothing personal CC but I was under the impression that the "DSC member/novice/not raced for 5 years" rule was still going to be the yardstick in 2006?? I imagine that the DD committee will be in touch soon, depending on numbers...... Paul |
