Collecting my new bike I'm due to pick up my 2003 2nd hand Monster 620 EI S (or is it IE S??) on Saturday afternoon from Ducati Aylesbury. My daughter is giving me a lift but I would REALLY appreciate someone in the vicinity meeting me there and giving the bike the once over before I pay the balance. Three reasons: (1) I haven't seen it yet :o Just seen the pictures on the website and have test ridden about 6 bikes from there and now I'm basically trusting the salesman Steve to steer me in the right direction because I now know what I want. (2) I've left any bartering a tad late as I have already paid a £600 deposit. (3) I've asked for the next big service and new tyres but was told he would take a look, do the service but may not change the tyres. I don't want to be taken for a mug but I'm afraid, if the salesman is out to do that, I wouldn't know until someone points out to me that I have been. Any chance of anyone giving her the once over for me before I sign the HP papers? |
I might be popping over on saturday for some warranty work to be done on the ten, but I wouldn't be too concerned cos they've been pretty good to me. Happy to be there for moral support if you want though babes :D Maybe skids might be available too? |
Ruth do you have a more accurate time for Saturday afternoon, if its early I should be able to get over Ducati Aylesbury. I'm still learning my way around 620ie's but know a little bit ablou bikes. |
Oh, thanks Jen. I'm planning to get there between 2.00 - 2.30. And if Skids is around, that would be perfect. Glad to hear you've had no problem with them though because another DSC member, naming no names, has put the wind up me with his comments, which is why I've put this post up. |

A understatement of truly biblical proportions I might say..... |

Result! I'm relying on Jo driving me but we may well get there sooner as she's a bit of a mad driver now that she has her Z4 :o |
All ways more to learn John, I keep intending to sit back and study the Honda rear suspension one day to try and work out the pros and cons of their weird and wonderful system. I also now have a bit more to learn about Ohlins forks. Obviously I'm on a power trip as it has been said that knowledge is power :D |
I'll try and get over about 1:30 then Ruth Nothing to do with good looking Blondes in Fast cars you understand :P |
Your doing the absolute right thing Ruth. I bought my first Duke a few years ago now (also from OYB) and, well to put it bluntly, got screwed by the salesman, who told me certain things had been done which later it was proved hadn't, and it ended up costing me a small fortune. Nearly (but not quite:D) put me of Dukes for life. The point being that at the time I knew very little if anything about Dukes, and went over on my own and just got bowled over by the beauty of the bike. If I had been there with someone who new even the slightest about what they were looking at, they would have spotted the problems....and they could have been rectified. I guess with Kev you have someone who knows his onions...just make sure he doesn't start 'removing' items for one of his DD projects:frog:;) Enjoy the Bike:bouncy: |
Thanks Skids. That would be brilliant. I'll see if I can get Jo to get me there nearer to 1.30. I'll tell her there's an admirer waiting, that should speed things up ;) Harv, that's basically what happened with my 996, fell in love, no idea what I was buying other than she was fantastic to ride, looked and sounded superb, had been my dream bike from outset and the goal I planned to attain at some point in life. Still love her but would have benefited hugely from knowing more about what I was buying before I laid out £9K! :o:o:D |
