Grabby Clutch I noticed on my first run on the 620 that the clutches are grabby, they don't like to be slipped off the line. Wisdom has it that is how it is and there isn't a cure so I've been told. So with the amount of knowledge here is there a cure, can we have a proper clutch that we can slip off the line ? Anyone know if a Japanese (shh) clutch out one of their twins could be made to fit ? Ta |
tony I doubt any jap ones would fit, I have just had to buy a genuine Duke clutch because there are no after market ones available(EBC) etc As for them being grabby, Cant say i have noticed this in any duke I have owned, If you are used to a four cly UJM I can see that it could feel grabby but you will get used to it. You're just not doing it right - trust me on this one  |
LOL, my starts are usually the only thing good about my racing. I need to get used to this clutch tho, guess some time down the local airfield is needed practising starts :) |

No I haven't but finding out they are all like that, what I don't understand is why. IL4 and Jap twins have nice smooth clutches so why can't we ? Not like they work any different is it ? |
Have you done the obvious - flushed and bled the system, cleaned the master cylinder, checked the stack height, etc? Also, is it running a braided hose or standard rubber? |
It's a dry clutch - they're all like that. ;) To used to a diet of Jap 4's. lol Tony, it's done a season's racing so it may need new plates, if they haven't been changed already. I'm only familiar with the dry clutches so, what I say might not be relevant for a wet one but, if you take it apart then check the basket to see if it's worn and grooved due to the action of plate fingers. If the basket is worn then the plate movement will not be smooth. Quote:
