Sorted rear brake. :D Well, I have sorted my rear brake on my 748/996. As I have posted up before after observing the rear master cylinder in action when the rear pedal is depressed............. I was shocked at the amount of movement of the rear master cylinder situated on the standard bracket. I found this bracket to be extremly flexy when under pressure from the brake pedal. So have added a bracing plate that is made from alloy that all the rear brake fittings bolt to. This in turn then bolts to the engine casings as standard. The brace plate also incorporates the bracket that holds the fixing to the cross over pipe.;)Rubber washers included. After road testing the bike today in sunny cornwall, I found the back brake to be MUCH MUCH improved.:D I can use the rear brake now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I got to do now is alloy polish it or perhaps get it annodised. Pics to follow............. DC. |
Rear brakes are for scrutineering purposes only. :burn: |

Then this dont apply to you then.:frog: DC.;) |
That's the one on the right that doesn't work the gearbox isn't it? I wondered what it was for, when I had the bike serviced at J.H.P. they made the observation that I'd never actually used the thing from new, judging by the state of the disc & pads! |

Cheers mate. All I can say is that there are those that talk about it and those that do it. I got fed up with a crap rear brake so thought about it and modded the rear brake set up. For a road bike, the rear brake is an important part of the braking system. Each to their own I suppose. Funny how GP bikes have rear brakes innit?? ;):P [Edited on 31-1-2006 by DC] [Edited on 31-1-2006 by DC] |
