998 Tune - Collecting Sunday
 
Hi Folks,

To anyone that’s interested (Deej?), I am picking my 998 up from LougiMoto on Sunday where Richard, Dean and Chris have been working a little magic.

The brief was for a service, super set-up, gas-flow, head-skim, set the squish and custom PC111USB mapping.

So far the dyno has shown a 15% increase in peak power, before the PC111 was mapped. Maybe a couple more little dobbins in there once the custom map is set up and installed.

I’ll post the before and after graphs once I’ve collected the bike.

It’s been a long 2 weeks – can’t wait to see my baby again.

I would be interested in the figures , and a road test feeling from yourself as only you know what it feels like beofre and after !

Is it a std 998 or S vsersion ?

Out of interest, why did you go the PCIII route wheb you could have reprogrammed the onboard ECU?

How easy is that to do with the 5.9M ECU, i though you could jsut trim the mix a small amount

The engine spec of the bike as delivered to LouigiMoto was:

998Bip
S/R cams (dialled)
996R ICU
Full 50mm system
Pipercross airtube filters
Coarser inlet mesh with opened out fairing inlets
PC111USB with zero map

I went with the PC111 because I have to run OE silenced (50mm) cans on the road, but put on Ti Termis for the track. The intention is to have custom maps for each set-up, which I can change as needed.

The dyno provider that LouigiMoto uses tends to produce quite low numbers, which is fine for before and after figures, but doesn't give you ammunition for pub b/s-ing.

Mine went in with 113/117 (removable baffles in/out), and had 130 before the custom seperate cylinder mapping.

My old (fully sorted) TL1000S made 119 on a different Dyno, and my 998 definitely had the legs on that before the above work.

All that really matters is whether I can keep up with a certain '02 R1 on Nogaro's long back straight at the end of May.

Charts and final figures to follow. I'll also post some numbers for my friend Pete's 999Bip, which was treated to a cam diall and PC111 set-up at the same time.

The PC A& Cam dial figures would be of great interest to me as i have a std 998bp ,instead of going for a 998R which i cant afford , prob due to buying the LC4 Sm :lol:

Ridden the bike though - hooweee! It's a good'un!!

Totto, you don't need an R - not when a Bip can do this.

a few hp is available after a cam dial five or 6 if you are very lucky..
i have recently found a way to achive 80ft ib torque and 130hp from a biposto without changing the cams...

a guy called bryan from ng found this out...

The only difference with an R is that it will spin up quicker and rev harder. It's a different bore and stroke and has lighter internals. My standard 998R was staying with some big bikes down the straight at Jerez ... on the few occasions it made it out there ...
