Electric fuel pump

Hi guys,

I have fitted an electric fuel pump to the DD bike.
Shouldn't the pump automatically cut off when the carbs are filled?

I have fuel pouring from the carbs if I leave the ignition on...

Cheers,

Tonio.

pump runs all the-time

are you sure you have replaced the two pipes on the "T" pieces between the carbs the correct way round? the fuel delivery is fitted to the larger of the two- the smaller one is the vent/overflow

have you attempted to reset the float higth's?

where have you placed the pump on the delivery circuit?

Dave I think Tonio is refering to his 600 Monster and that originally had a Vacuum fuel pump and no return path. So it will depend which fuel pump he has used, Ones of Carb'd CBR600s, ZXR400s, R6s etc should shut off when the fuel level in the float bpwls is high enough to shut the needle valves and then the back pressure should shut the pump off

yes skids-- i just remembered that tonio races a monster and not an SS-but you beat me to it and suddenly thought they are different regarding fuel return - but its probably too late and i have totally confused him-- sorry tonio please disregard my post i forgot you have a monster

Cheers Monstermob 998, yes you got me lost

It's an R6 pump indeed fitted to a late 583 Monster (late not because that's how it finishes the races right...)

Skid, yes that's how I thought it would work. Guess I'll have to open the carbs :(

After further inspection (read: I removed the air filters and tried again  ) I can see that fuel is pouring from the overflow of the bowls and is spraying form the air intakes as well. Any idea?

Or the pump, just disconnect the fuel line between the pump and the carbs, block it off and turn on the ignition and see if the pump turns off

nice one, will try right now :)

Cheers Kev!

Pump seems to be working ok. When blocked it stops running.

I guess I now need to open the carbs?

Sounds like your going to have to, maybe a holed/damaged float or worn fuel need valves
