749 Dark Vs 749

Newbie here, so I apologise if this thread is in the wrong section.
I intend to buy a 749 on Thursday as long as the test ride lives up to expectations! The dilemma is do I get the 749 Dark or get the standard 749 in yellow?
R the 749s reliable for every day use?

I love the look of the 749 Dark - it's far better than either the red or the yellow.

As far as I can see, the Dark doesn't have an adjustable swing-arm mount ... would you really need it? Other than that it's exactly the same...

I have just bought a dark from Duke Glasgow.

Main differences are, no coated forks at the front, no steering damper, and as Antonye pointed out no adjustment.

For the cash saving it is worth going for the dark.

My old 748r was yellow so it was not a colour decision for me it was just that the black looks awesome in the flesh!!!!

I was concerned about it fading and becoming dull, the garage showed me a monster with the same colour which had been left outside in all weathers with loads of miles on, no sign of fading or any other problems.

I have just treated myself to the Breil Sticker kit from "The Image Works" and plan to paint the wheels and possibly the frame red to make it match the GP bike.

Go for the black, new at 8k is a bargain

Don't Ducati Darks come with crappy Sachs shocks? :puzzled:

ScottyB 08-Jun-2004 19:49

Front: Showa 43 mm upside-down fully adjustable fork

Rear: Progressive linkage with fully adjustable Sachs monoshock and non-adjustable rear suspension push rod.

(Cut and pasted from Duke UK I am not that sad!!!)
