White wheels Just got the T8 back from the sprayshop:DI`ve had it painted in `94 corse livery and can`t decide whether to do the wheels white or not.The factory bikes were white,what do you reckon chaps:puzzled: |
Looking good mate, that is a superb bike. However, I'd say sod the factory bike look...white wheels? what a mare to keep clean. My favourite wheels are satin or gloss black. Been thinking about doing that to the old ST over winter, but I don't want to spend too much more tarting up the old bus, it is after all only an ST. Silk purses and sow's ears spring to mind. |
Nah - go for white wheels - you want it to look "proper". She looks a beauty!!! |
This is where I got the colour scheme and ideas from(loosely) but I`m not a big Foggy fan. Thanks Jools,are you out tomorrow with KB? [Edited on 18-9-2004 by sparkin] |
I reckon they would give it that final touch but you've got to be happy with cleaning the buggers! Cleaning white wheels - not for me! |
I'm no expert but I feel that if you are prepared to make the effort that it takes to keep white wheels clean then it will make the bike far better looking |
Nightmare to keep clean,but if that's the look you were after,then stick with it.I'd personally go for black,especially as Corsers wheels were black in '93 and Polens black in '92. |
looking good mate. Having had the white flavour, and the black. Has to be black, it just gives the bike that little bit more aggresive stance. But just my thoughts. Nice though, all you need now is a nice corsa nest of vips & pipes.;););) cheers robin |
Here you go Sparkin - a quick lash-up. Quite like the look of those early Marvic wheels you were talking about a while ago. You give up on those? They still for sale? How much/where from? Cheers Steve |

:lol::PAre you offering yours Rob?:lol:;) |
Nah, not just yet:P:P they are just like mr foggy's in that pic you mate, maybee thay are:D:D, after all, they've got dents in the all the right places:lol::lol: cheer Robin |
No, I still have first refusual on them:D but they do need new rim bolts:( Thanks for the pic,I didn`t think to photoshop it:rolleye: I wonder if that changes anyones opinion now? |
nope, still got to be black. weevee, where's the black version. |
Looks meaner..! |
yep, that better. Just need to give them that gloss finish now. back to you weevee..... |
:puzzled::puzzled:Now I`m even more confused:puzzled::puzzled::lol::lol: |
Black gets my vote. |
Hmm....Black like you say,looks a bit meaner and is easier to keep clean,but I`m a cleaning,kinder bling/carbon junkie anyway so that doesn`t really bother me. White stands out a bit more I think and is in keeping with the look.................then there`s always gold Weevee;) |
black is no easier to keep clean, if it's got brake dust on it it's not shiny Black is the new white, But i would go with the white, keep it classic [Edited on 18-9-2004 by keefer] |
Not got any gold Poster paint! Here's the nearest match.. |
I think you should go with this option then. early two piece, Marvic three spoke wheels, polished ally rims with gold mag spokes. :D |
Black, definitely! Andrew |
looks like a possible new poll then. Black or white wheels for sparkin..... [Edited on 18-9-2004 by Red SPS] |
black will win its the choice of all the race teams. the likes of Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Ducati all used white in the past and all use black now |

Have a look at this one Sparkin. Your own bike would look something like it with black wheels. It's one of the best I've seen. |
very, very , very nice. Looks just right, dogs bits. Red.... |
Hey mate,I thought you were going for the big 'ol no.9 Falappa rep? ![]() Note black wheels!:roll: |
Thought about it KB,but I`ve never been one for "a rider replica hero worship type thingy" I just like the style and spec of race bikes.Not only that,but my sprayer would have had to had graphics made up so the carbon number could show thru,but he had the No1 in stock;) You know me mate no patience:devil: If you look at the `94 bikes they`re white,at the moment it`s 60/40 in favour of white:lol: [Edited on 18-9-2004 by sparkin] |
Gratuitous pic of my own bike - with black wheels. (Black is faaaster..!) |
That looks real nice mate!You have the white frame, so white wheels would be to much.I`ve attached a side on pic for you to play with;) |
My first Ducati had a white frame and wheels. It was very striking. Have a look. |
Now i`ve seen that Weevee it`s70/30 in favour of white! |
Yep, it looked very pretty. The scumbag who knicked it must have thought so too! Here's a taster of yours (the jagged outlines are the result of one too many Jack Daniels! I'm going boggle eyed looking at the pixels!! |
Cheers mate75/25 white now! :lol::lol::lol: |
Last one, and I'm off.. (Get it stripped down again, and paint the frame. You know you want to..!) |
Just aquicky before I set off to my AP's and disks, get the frame done white with matching gloss black wheeeeeeeeeels. that the best compramise, gold frames are old news. have a nice day now. |
Whites gotta be easier to clean than black...having 2 bikes, both with black wheels is a chuffin nightmare !!! White looks nice mate....dare to be different !!! Funnily enough, Im reading (another!) new ducati book at the minute, and remembering thinking the other night how good this looked...Heres one of luchinellis with white wheels. Steve - havent you got any people you should be teaching to drive ??? :lol: Cheers Nat [Edited on 20-9-2004 by Nattyboy] |
And if anyone needed convincing that 'white is right'..then heres one of me on my factory pepsi RGV..:lol::lol: What a ponce !!!! No p**s taking though please..I was only 18 !!!! Cheers Nat [Edited on 20-9-2004 by Nattyboy] |
