57mm Termi

WOW

After a trip to JHP Ducati one day last week i meet with Dave and John who were tempting me into the 57mm Temi
system to go on my 749R .

Well they did a good job ! Its now been fitted also including a power commander and it sounds fantastic ! Even better power delivery and the SOUND WOW.....

John Hackett has sprinkled his magic dust this time , spending a few hours on the dyno its just shy of 130bhp .

I am so please with the result and the service from John's team in Coventry i had to let you guys know.......

Great news

Butch

Sounds even more awsome with 140 bhp ! Just keep having to pinch myself to remind me its only a 750cc !

Did you enjoy Donington yesterday ?

Ferrari

butch890 20-Sep-2004 20:34

Yes mate,
Had a great day, nice and relaxed,no huge crowds ,superb supersport race.
Spent most of the day in and around the paddock with John and Ken,even the present Mrs.Butcher asked if she could come,AND she enjoyed it !
Still trying to convince her she needsto pass her test and get a monster.
As an aside, had a chat with Paul Bird and it turns out Monstermob spend more on hospitality than it cost Ducati coventry to run both bikes this year .happy 749r-ing

130bhp from 749!:o very impressive! but a 140bhp?!?:o:o:burn: that is fookin awesome! wow!
i'm assuming thats rwhp too?

what can they do with 999r's??:eureka:
:smug:

andyb 21-Sep-2004 10:47

57mm and power commander = 155bhp at mr jhp!!

none of this expensive engine work ;)

iang 21-Sep-2004 15:22

So what is the cost of all these mods, are JHP doing a deal on the 57 mm exhausts as they sent me a message to inform me that they have the systems in stock.

pedro 21-Sep-2004 20:34

wish he was

Ferrari Pete 22-Sep-2004 17:33

Yeah there doin a deal .... You take your bike in ask them to fit a 57mm system and they charge you Its that simple.

Its worth every penny for the sound alone !

I wouldnt go any where else for service or mods.

Steve M 22-Sep-2004 17:43

Me jealous? nooooooooo.
Well, yes, very actually.
Glad it's as good as you'd hoped.
:)

Ferrari Pete 23-Sep-2004 18:33

I hope it makes me ride slower as it sounds better and more like a merlin engine from a spitfire.!

bazzer sps 09-Oct-2004 17:33

Pete,
Now you have had it fitted for a while - so whats it really like is the power increase that noticeable and apart from the sound what's the best part of the mod?

electricsheep 09-Oct-2004 17:49

So how much does a 57mm Termi, Power Commander and John's fettling cost ?

Jon 09-Oct-2004 18:02

To get 150bhp from a 996R, John said I would need a 57mm system. hi comp forged pistons, these won't flex under load. Gas flowed & ported head, compression measured and altered to suite. Cost about 25% of the bikeish

madmav 09-Oct-2004 20:15

pete ! it looks like i best get me 996 bip out again ! (feel the need for speed):lol::lol::cool:

Ferrari Pete 13-Oct-2004 17:46

Wow much better than the 998 that i had before.
Best part about it from low revvs non of the shaking like it did before and much smoother with an awsome sound.
I been that keen when i have riding it ive decked out the fairing ooops!

Cost of the 57mm system power commander and set up and dyno £3300 inc vat....No cheap but worth every penny. (Dont tell the wife)

JPM 13-Oct-2004 18:01

Practically a bargain!

Was with John a week or two ago, and he was saying he's seeing 146Bhp from the 749R that their racing, and now getting 156Bhp from the 999R...

Lily knows what my Xmas present is..... don't you ;)

Lily 13-Oct-2004 18:06

hmmmm....

its such a shame that the budget was only 3k!! sadly have to have a rethink now....

:roll::P

JPM 13-Oct-2004 18:09

I'm sure John will be able to lose 300 quid for you...

Or I could just speak to someone else and see about getting that ex-WSB RS04 system...

chief 17-Oct-2004 19:13

I have to say that Ferrari's bike sounds the mutts nuts :rolleye:
I did Donnington a couple of Mondays ago with him. In the pit garage when we started them up i could not hear my bike at all!!!!!!!

pedro 20-Oct-2004 17:53

going to be in the loud gang soon mr chief, my termi pipes are in the post.no bike to put them on yet:barfy:

chief 20-Oct-2004 18:08

What do you me Pedro, no bike?
I thought you were getting God and St Paul to do the service, so you must have a bike!!!!

Anyway it's not the size of your Termie's that matter it's how good you look on it......I shall say no more.......:frog:

pedro 20-Oct-2004 18:43

bike at jhp for service. i take it you like the 749r then?

chief 22-Oct-2004 19:20

Well Pedro,
Contentious issue this one, what with all the 996/8 fans about. But I have to say as I find. The 749R is a far superior beast to my 996S, the brakes, suspension, weight distribution and oh that lovely slipper clutch......
As you know I did Donnington with Ferrari a couple of weeks ago and was amazed at the feel and handling. My old beast of burden would have given me pains with all that man handeling it around the curvy bits....PLeased.....you bet ya ;)

pedro 23-Oct-2004 10:02

you will start um off chief!

madmav 23-Oct-2004 20:37

Well CHEIF ;)
I recon the two differences can be likend to women!

The 996/998 are like your missus/wife in bed:)

Ie; The wife will let you ride her within reason, the way you want to:lol:

you will know every turn of the way!;) and you also know that if you push it, she will say "NO" don't go there:lol:

but the 749R is like your knock off !;)

you think you can ride her the same way ! but then just when you think your getting the hang of her "SHE BITE'S" and spits you off!:lol:

Thus proving, who is being ridden????????????;)

Think about it:lol::lol::lol:

...........................mav:cool:

butch890 24-Oct-2004 17:25

Sorry mate ,i think its the other way round.
The 748/99* is a bike that requires 100% effort to get the very best out of, the baby R is very much easier to get the best out of,basicly much easier to ride quickly.
Therefore ultimatly the 748/99* is more rewarding if you get everything right.(IMHO)
Butch

pedro 24-Oct-2004 17:53

its getting messy butch!, im with you on that one

madmav 24-Oct-2004 21:24

butch aint that what i said? spose it's how you read it!;)

Jon 24-Oct-2004 23:42

Madmav, so you reckon your wifes much better looking than your knock off:D

Ferrari Pete 25-Oct-2004 14:16

Well Mav thats what your wife said to me ......I thought she rode just like my 749R ....Very keen but expensive to run..
Pete

pete.lightbody 25-Oct-2004 20:51

Hi Butch,

Bumped into you down at Nagaro at the start of the year with guys from Jersey.

Intresting to hear about the race kit, my bike has had it fitted along with with some other tasty parts and is up at John's waiting for an ECU that works (One which came with the kit was u/s).

Had a few snags with the clutch, as per Jon Jury's article in TWO, ducati are replacing the base plate on the origional but have since replaced it anyway with a titanium bucci one.

In the UK this week and so might pop up to JHP for a coffee if time allows,

Bump into you again some time.

Pete

PS. Would agree the 749/999 makes you look good but doesn't require the skill of the 998 etc.

chief 28-Oct-2004 19:14

Well I don't know about the old wifw analagies but I think the R is the mutts nutts, it's poised and tighter than a tit mouses ear :P

Having ehum "Ridden both hard" the developement that has clearly go into the "Next Generation" is very evident right from the get go, the dash board very spacy and clear to read. Ergenomics of seat ,bars ect spot on.
My wrists always ached after a while on the 996 (a bit cramped me thinks) but on the R their fine and a dandy! (Mav don't start on the "Wrists" thing alright!)

madmav 28-Oct-2004 20:05

guy's listen up ! i'm realy envious ;) the truth is i cant afford one ! so i'm gonna have to get even madda:lol::lol:

just to keep up with you guys:burn:

seriously good look with your new toys boys ! ;) regards madda mav
