Seat Technology

Anyone aware of a seat material (and preferably a supplier thereof!) that is slippy in one direction only?
Basically, I'm interested in a material that allows you to slide easily from side to side, but resists front and back movement.
Must be something on the market!

Cheers folks!

suede because of the grain. Alcantara's not quite as grippy, but better wearing.

or stop polishing the seat with MrSheen ;)

But Mr Sheen shines umpteen things clean!

Actually, I find hanging off a lot easier after feeding my leathers (but sudden braking is an eye-watering experience.

Have to investigate the alcantara ...

Cheers!

Loz, Alan says if you want to have a run out on his bike (THAT monster) you are more than welcome to try the 'feel' ;) of the alcantara. Has been in use since Feb this year - wet & dry (bike even being left out for a long w/end in non-stop downpours in May) and still wearing very well.

C:)

Charlotte, please tell Alan that's fantastic and I guarantee to get the bike back to him no later than November 2007.
:D drool :D

Where did he get it done? Good enough for AK is good enough for me! :)

Loz,have a word with Glyn about seat coverings. He is an upholsterer by trade and has re-covered a few of the BHC lads bike seats. The work is top notch.

Loz it sounds as if you already have the right set, they say to go really fast you need bigger B*lls so keep up the late braking and youll soon be lapping all of us on the trackdays

Loz 03-Oct-2004 14:01

Cheers, Kev, I always listen to your advice cos you "been there, done that!". :D

Not on a 999 I haven't
May be there's a flaw with the bike, to much weight transfer under braking and acceleration.

Loz, Gary at Automotive & Marine Trimming did the seat - he is in Addlestone, Surrey 01932 845858. He made the base & covered it for Alan, as the tail piece Al had, didnt have a seat base at all.

As to borrowing till Nov 07!:o Regret you cant mate - it needs to be at the NEC for 10 days or so THIS Nov! (yet another plug for AK, as he has been asked to bring it up to go on the Streetfighter magazine stand).

Any w/end date before then is ok - but caution - I'll borrow your bike & follow you!:P

Kev, you'll get your chance on a 999S next summer, if you like. :)

I assume it's possible to dial out the worst of any weight transfer issues with the Ohlins suspension? Or is it purely a question of geometry and weight distribution, i.e. nothing can be done?

The 999S is by far the best bike I've ever ridden, it's flawless in comparison to anything else I've had a decent go on - by that isn't saying very much in my case!

Cheers Charlotte. I knew I wouldn't get away with a long term loan

If I can make it up your way one weekend soon I'll let you know asap. Thanks again for the offer! Probably be on my tatty 750Sport though, the 999 is going in its box of straw soon ... :D

I'll keep Gary in mind, thanks for the heads up!
