Best ISP

Now that I can finally get ISDN in the stix, am looking to change my ISP.

Pipex looks good on price but apparantly their customer servive is crap.
Biscit look good on price except for an extra fiver if you want newsgroups - sounds like a rip to me.
Clara net looks good but is HUGELY expensive.
Anybody got any experience of Virgin or anyone else for that matter?

Try Wanadoo, I am on the snail version at the moment but will be upgrading to broadband, the prices are good & service is not to bad.

Wanadoo, 1mb, free connection etc, 2gb a month for £17.99

rockhopper 06-Oct-2004 20:54

Oh and Yeti, check what the penalities are if you move house during your 12 month contract.

Zen...trouble free/no hang-ups for 18 months, easy to set-up, quick, great customer service and no contract.

ISDN or ADSL?

yeti 07-Oct-2004 19:43

OK, next question. I've looked at the one's suggested, but none of them seem to offer newsgroup access. Is it better to pay for this seperately, or go for an ISP that includes it such as Biscit?

rockhopper 07-Oct-2004 21:22

Wanadoo have news group access, i'm sure tesco do as well.

rockhopper 07-Oct-2004 21:24

If they dont include it you can always get it though deja news or whatever its called this week.

My new wanadoo broad band access works just the same as my old dial up, i use outlook express for mail and news - no change at all, just faster!

yeti 07-Oct-2004 22:06

Where do you get your newsgroups from? Can't see any reference to them on the Wannadoo site.

rockhopper 07-Oct-2004 22:12

Not too sure what you mean Yeti. The news server is at news.freeserve.com and it works through Outlook express.

I'm not an internet buff i'm afraid!

Have a look at freedom2surf

Pretty cheap, static IP, if you need that, plus quite a few other bits!
