David Cook 16-Oct-2004 15:37

Who's "Karly Fogarty" then??

You'd think that he'd manage to get his name right.

Albie 16-Oct-2004 18:07

Strange place to locate fluid reservoirs:o

weeveetwin 16-Oct-2004 18:59

What's it worth then peeps? What would you pay if you had the spare cash? (Great for track days, no doubt - but just think what a fantastic road bike it would make!)

Redsps 16-Oct-2004 20:22

Well I have to admit weevee, I'm watching it carefully.
reserve is probably around the 14k mark, which is quite a bit of cash wonga to be honest at the moment.
If I can convince the wife (more expense) it's not just another toy, I may go for it.
Will probably have to sell my 851 to free up the extra cash if to fund it.
As they say, watch this space.
Could be moded for the road, but not really a ideal plan.

cheers
robin

sparkin 16-Oct-2004 20:28

Go on,you know you want to Robin:)

What a lovely thing to own,...........if only I had the spare cash!

Redsps 16-Oct-2004 20:41

well i'm highest bidder, but not got that reserve yet, it can't be much higher, pleaseeeeeeeeeeee:o:o
looks like a groveling chat with the bank manager again is on the cards again.

cheers
Robin

Redsps 16-Oct-2004 20:53

Altough, for £15k you can get this awsome machine,( http://www.carclassic.com/bikes/html/pages/DK40.htm ) which is a newer (94) bike too, probably had less previous owners aswell.
something to compare between the two sales I supose.
If ebay item gets close to £15k without reaching reserve, i may go with the other.
still way over my budget ( was'nt looking for another 8xx until today).
Still a way to go yet, things could go completely pants aswell.

I think's this'll go for more than 14K, quite a bit actually. We'll soon see, so make sure you offer the bank manager the first born son, Robin.

TP 17-Oct-2004 12:41

Currently being led by netapps1 ?? Tim? Surely not?

Redsps 17-Oct-2004 13:45

Nah not tim tp, it's me, and I will not go over £16k ;);)

TP 17-Oct-2004 14:09

You don't work for Netapp as well Robin?

Redsps 17-Oct-2004 18:23

I think will need to see this bike in the flesh before I increase my latest bid.
Just in case it's a total heap, you can never tell from pics, it may have been thrashed and trashed more than a few times in it's history.

keefer 17-Oct-2004 19:15

i think this is going to be a bit EXSPENSIVE, might be worth asking him what the reserve is.
I would of thought it would be around the £17500---£18000
He's going to want alot for the history
Have to wait and see

Rob B 18-Oct-2004 11:29

That's all assuming it's exactly what he says it is. I guess there are a few bikes around that have been raced, crashed and rebuilt so much that they bear little resembalance to the bike that "recer X" actually rode. I guess the four on Ebay might be "as ridden" by Haga and Haslam at the moment, but in 10 years, who knows what bits might have been changed.

Rgds, Rob

Redsps 18-Oct-2004 14:58

hi rob, one thing does bother me abit about this bike.
The subframe does not look correct for the bike.
all the pics and details i've checked, don't show an early or late corsa or similar bike with that much subframe showing where the exhaust bracket attach to the silencers.
looks like an early 851 subframe on a late frame.
fuel tank also looks to be incorrect for a 92 corsa bike, the fuel outlets were on the lower edge of the tank, not at an angle like these.
Possibly the bike has had some big repairs in the past, but surprised they did'nt put the correct subframe on it.

i could be totally wrong though.

Felix 18-Oct-2004 15:08

The golden rule when buying ex-race bikes of some significane, is to only buy them from Parc-Ferme. If you don't then you simply get some facsimile thereof. So, Rob is quite correct.

Redsps 18-Oct-2004 18:12

spoken with a few people who know the bike, seems very unlikely that it's in original condition.
It used to be yellow at one time, and it's lost it's 60mm system aswell.
probably lots of other changes too.

Still a nice bike though, may have to reconsider it's value now.

Rob B 18-Oct-2004 18:53

Yep, I can't believe it was factory raced with standard top yokes. Where are the mag jobbies?
