I\'ve reached a difficult decision about my 996 After a 4 year love affair with my Y2K 996SPS I've reached the very difficult decision that I'm going to sell her! Any of you that have seen the bike will realise that she's had everything possible done to her at the hands of John Hackett himself, but the time has now come for us to part :-( I'll need to speak to John, and one or two others, to get an idea about likely re-sale value but thought that I would let any interested members know that she's available. A very heavy hearted David. |
Blimey - and I thought a Ti frame was on the way!!!! She's an absolute beauty and you must be gutted to be letting her go, but I assume that there's something better in the offing???? Or have you been converted to the land of the rising sun with your CSS riding on Yamahas??? Good luck Tim:frog: |
It truely is a superb one-off machine. I can understand why you'd be so gutted :( |
Time to upgrade to a 999?!?!;) |
Dave, I have seen your bike in the dimly lit underground service area at JHP, was under the impession it was the "Holy of Holys" perhaps Ducati will buy it off you for the museum :D |
Don`t sell it! You`l regret it for the rest of your life and will always want it back!........................be warned I sold a Duke one and have regreted it ever since.:puzzled: |

That's funny Tim because I was offered one off Ben Bostram's bike last week!! |
Shame you have to sell it :barfy::barfy: |

Wow :o !! What is coming in its stead David? What a shame! |
Nothing! The truth is that I'll do so many School days next year including Almeria, Catalunya, Mondello and Mugello that I'll never have the opportunity to ride the Duke. I just don't want to be someone that has one but can't use it, so it's time for pastures new. |
Fair enough, you've got to do what you've got to do I suppose. I understand that it must be a hard decision, and with the money that has gone into the bike. It sounds like you'll be having a good time next year anyway! Do you think you might have need of a 600 or 620 perchance? |
Superb bike, sad to see it go, I'll take it off you for £5k and race it in sound of thunder next year, the balance we can call 'sponsorship' WeeJohnyB |
i dont get it when people say i just wont have time to use it ? well keep it till you will have time to use it. as others have said you will only regret it. Good Luck. :frog: |
Dave, I agree with the others, you will only regret it!! Just think about the time it took you to put that beauty together. I wouldn't sell a bike like yours unless this is for a true race machine exBSB or WSB!! take care, p |
Got to agree with the others David. Don't sell it. Richard still finds time to use his 853R? It don't owe you anything and I can only see you losing out badly. I've seen machines with over £50k spent on them only to fetch £12-£15K when sold. |
You never do anything without a reason David, I'd get JHP to sell it for you and you might find someone willing to offer a percentage of its true value. |
Whatever you decide to do with the SPS David, I hope we'll still see you on the Monster for BHC days out as often as you can make it. |
If it's any consolation - I too am having to part with my 748, although I only want £3.?K Mine for purely fiscal reasons and it's a shame - but you move on. It's like letting a truely lovely lady go, if you don't, you hold both of you back. Someone will love her in a different way, but you'll never really see a financial return on your investment. Letting something go that you have loved, nurtured and grown which is a hugely cathartic process. In the end it wipes any proverbial slate clean and leaves one with no pre-conditions or expectations. I have always found such sizemic events terribly liberating and purging and ultimately a good thing. So speaketh a single man with many such experiences behind me, and besides, perhaps David might dabble in the proposed DSC race series - if he finds any time! Tim [Edited on 18-10-2004 by aws] |
