Romance

As a predominantly male messgae board, maybe you guys can shed some light on what is or is not romantic these days.

The lads in the office just took the mickey out of a bloke as he was thinking of buying flowers for a girl, saying that was tacky, not romantic

Is romance dead?
What do you think/do that is romantic??

Last week Freak ran the bath for me and poured me a nice glass of wine. To me that was quite thoughtful and I guess i would class it as caring, but is it romantic?

dickieducati 19-Oct-2004 16:15

did it work?

JPM 19-Oct-2004 16:20

Nah...

I just think it's funny when you "relax" a bit with a glass of wine or two and fart in the bath :o

That's a bit juvenille. Sounds a bit like being in a playground as kids..."You're in love with so and so....nah, nah, nee, nah, nah"

There's nothing wrong with showing somebody that you care about them. Whether that's considered romantic or not is surely in the eyes of the person on the receiving end of any small kindness. If the girl thinks that getting flowers is tacky and takes the mick out of him like the lads have, then I guess it's tacky and not at all romantic.

Somehow, I don't think she will. He may even get to run a bath and take some cold wine into the bathroom so she gets clean and drunk, then down and dirty for him

Hmmmm...wonder what the lads would find to laugh about there.

Clean AND drunk! Conjures up a thought that does.

yeti 19-Oct-2004 16:24

Amazed you even thought to ask the question on this board Lily!

Lily 19-Oct-2004 16:28

I had kinda assumed that the readers of this board represented a reasonable male view!!!

I think that romance is a two way thing and that its the little things that often make it special and the fact that its not always expected.

Little things ?

:(

kwikbitch 19-Oct-2004 16:54

Lily...I think some women just expect too much from their male...AND the same goes for the guys.
It IS the little things that count. AND if he goes that bit further and nips to the florist then WOW!...
However, I think it's more important that he recognises and appreciates what you like. Flowers, diamonds and chocolates are NOT always a girls best friend...i.e if he buys you a copy of a CD he hates but knows you love THEN I'd see that as romantic.

yeti 19-Oct-2004 17:35

What about him sleepin on the wet bit KB? Don't you think that's worth a few smarty points?:D

kwikbitch 19-Oct-2004 17:40

Doesn't count! You dont get wet bits if you use protection!:P

yeti 19-Oct-2004 17:42

Yes you do! Think about it!

chief 19-Oct-2004 18:59

Oh oh oh "Wet Bits" sorry my mistake. It's amazing what trouble dyslexia can get one into :P

rcgbob44 19-Oct-2004 19:05

I bought my wife flowers last week as I usually do once in a while, nice to keep a little sparkle there.

I thing were all a bit romantic, its just that some of us don`t mind showing it or admiting it.

You may be romantic, but you certainly aren't modest!!!

Rocker 19-Oct-2004 20:38

I think the most romantic (or stupid?) thing I do is buy Sue an accessory for her Hornet when I could have bought something for the Ducati

deej 19-Oct-2004 22:45

would you class buying your girlfriend a cbt for her birthday as romantic ?? means i get to spend more time looking at her arse in leather trousers :P
