New toy, new friends?

Hello peeps...i'm a new member of your message board and the 'Ducatisti' having just acquired a nice 888. I've posted a couple of pics, she is a normal BP although the white number plate was added by the previous owner in sticky white vinyl. Looks Sp but can easily be converted back. She has a bit of carbon here and there, plus I picked up a new ohlins rear shock, brembo radial brake master cyl., and to put you ALL out of your misery, those Ohlins forks from ebay last week, heheh. As far as I know, they came from a 888 SP4 which Baines broke, the yokes have the limited edition SP badge number 034 on the top. Anyway enjoy the pics and hope to make a few friends...by the way, does anyone have or know where I can get a some rearsets? Cheers...Freddie.

Nice machine. Where are you from? Oh and welcome aboard!!!

Redsps 19-Oct-2004 21:16

nice to see you on the board freddie.
nice bike, another duke owner with class;);)
answer to your questions.
rearsets are a very hard to come by article, not many around for 888's even less for 851's

one small sugestion though freddie to enhance that 888, swap those pipes for some proper carbon termi jobbies, it will make all the difference.

if you get bored with them ohlins forks, I'll take em off your hands:D:D

Enjoy the ride, as they say.

cheers
Robin

Hello mate, and welcome to our mad world:lol:like Natty says we`re a bit keen in this bit.I believe you`re quite local to me:) `cos I`ve seen that bike in Veloce M/Cs a month or so ago,did look nice, but the owner wasn`t there. If you are local click on the link below,he`s your man for `51s and T8`s.

Redruth 19-Oct-2004 22:43

Superb - too clean of course. Take it out in *****ty weather to get it looking a bit more authentic, is my advice :D

If you live near Sparkin, you have to join the ride-outs with him, Fordie, Jools, KeefyB et al. There's a Christmas Dinner at Grafham Water too, if that's your area. 12th December. Anyway. Welcome to the DSC (alternative name - Dirty Scummy and Clean Club):devil::devil:

RightSaidFred 20-Oct-2004 08:16

More drivel, as requested..!

Hey thanks for the response and the links. Yep seems you are all mad, well done.
Response to questions, yes I live in Norfolk and yep she was in Veloce's a month or so back, just for a check up and belts/shims. Although I can probly do that myself, couldn't be arsed :D would love a set of carbon Termi's but have no money left after the Ohlins extravagence. Actually I've just put her back together after a prang, long story but I bought her from a (now ex) girlfriend who got knocked off it and decided she wanted out of bikes after all. Luckily not too bad damage bodywork mainly.
Anyway.
So sparkin, where bouts are you? I'm Attleborough and rideouts would be great if there's some of you that get out. To be honest I come from a bit of a racing background and am more interested in using her round Snet than riding the roads but if there's a few of you going out then why not. I find it boring on my own frankly. Let me know guys and gals.
Oh yeh and I will come down to Box Hill sometime too, used to spend literally every Sunday there a few years back, and have a fair sprinkling of nutty mates in Surrey.

Oh well best be off, one more thing, are they all this slow..?? :puzzled::lol:

Steve M 20-Oct-2004 10:31

No, no, no...our BHC rides are anything but boring. As Keefy says, come over you're welcome...

Specially on a 888.

yellow916 20-Oct-2004 18:52

Welcome - nice bike.

I think CycleCat now list rearsets for the 888 - not cheap but very nice. Try Spareshack.

Not sure what to say to that webfoot:lol::lol::lol:

RSF,I`m in Dereham mate, about 5 or 6 of us get together normally from Norfolk, rooney and tricky from Swwwaffffffffum,Tantrum from Norrridge,me and dodgy from Dereham(you won`t see dodgy unless it`s over 30degrees and clear skies:P:lol: )Me,rooney and tantrum are always up for a trackday.A ride with the BHC is always good for a laugh(mostly at me!)Got to go now and pack me bags,me and tantrum are off to the factory in the morning:D
Sparkins "Ducati factory and museum tour" will be avaliable on DVD soon!:sing::bouncy::D:lol:

RightSaidFred 20-Oct-2004 21:15

Splendid, rides out soon then. Well, when it's dry and 30+ :D:D

Cheers for rearset advice, but Cycle Cat...Spareshack? Where's/what's that??:puzzled:

Anyway...yeh I spose I am another Narfalker, but only been here 6 months, moved up from Winchester, down South, for a laugh. My T8 is a bit slow compared to my last bike (R1 with everything on it, I used to race in the New Era Pro Bikes) but luckily there's no hills round here so I guess you need less horse :D:D

Let us know a date for the next meet, ride/pub/whatever...:bouncy:

yellow916 20-Oct-2004 22:06

Cycle Cat - http://www.cyclecat.com/

Spareshack - http://www.spareshack.com/index.htm

I think you need the DRS-41

Andrew

RightSaidFred 21-Oct-2004 08:03

Cheers Andrew, emails duly sent.

Any idea how to make one of these avatars..?? Been trying for ages  can't seem to be able to...bit computer illiteracy doesn't help either I guess

RightSaidFred 28-Oct-2004 08:09

Doesn't want to work, does it??!! Arrgghh! Keeps coming up with this:

Error
Wrong file type 'image/bmp' - the file must be either a .GIF or .JPG format

Tried renaming it with .jpg at the end but no. When I try to save it from here to my desktop my computer won't give me the option of saving it as anything other than a .bmp that's the only option available in the box! :flame:

simon foster 24-Feb-2005 20:16
