Ducati Corse Mofo\'s!! Bayliss replacement inside

Why? why? why?

I hope he proves me wrong

I think they'd be as well only running one motogp bike next year if this was the best they could muster.

Very poor imho, I hope he really proves me wrong.

Cheers!

Been chatting about this in another thread, will Carlos sell his R1 road bike that he has always spoken so highly of, How many Gps has he won and when was his last win. This year he was riding the same bike that Rossi took to 9 wins and the championship where was Checa most of the time. At least Baylis got as many Rostrums as Caparossi this year and crashed while trying for another earlier in the year.

Road Runner 31-Oct-2004 19:42

I like the first line he will bring speed and enthusiasm to the team ! yer and collect enought Gravel to re-surface all their driveways.

It all down to money methinks !

TP 31-Oct-2004 20:17

Checa for Bayliss, smacks of stupidity. It's all about sponsorship money clearly and Troy doesn't bring any with him.

It's all about being Spanish ..

WeeJohnyB 31-Oct-2004 20:17

Nah, can't see Carlos doing much unless the bike is improved over the wineter (beyond the Hondas).

Checa's career was on the up until the point where he died; he died trackside on a Donington qualifying if I remember right. Straight away he was talking of a return and that alone was amazing, but since then I think he has had another outlook to life and most of his effort has been perhaps on the PR side in Spain.

Checas ride on the Ducati comes from Philip Morris pressure, - Checa's name sells Marlboro cigarettes, - given the cost of running a MotoGP team and where the money comes from it is not surprising that he has the ride really, perhaps not right but until Australia companies start investing in the sport Australian riders will not be calling the tune. It has always surprised me that given the success of Australian riders that none of their homeland companies have tapped into it, but I guess Australia is a bit like the USA, they as a whole do not treat Motorcycle racing with the respect that it deserves.

Out of all of this I actually think Bayliss will come out ok; I think he will get a Camel Honda ride.

baylissboy 01-Nov-2004 10:37

I have to say that when i heard the news i thought WTF! I have to own up to being a Bayliss fan, that said he hasn't had many good results this year(apart from yesterday, which was great),but nobody else on a Duke has really set the world on fire have they?
One thing about Troy is that he'll always give it 110% even if the bike under him isn't great, that'll account for some of his gravel trap trips this season!
If Ducati corse were replacing him for someone who could actually win a GP then that would be reasonable, but "CARELESS CHUCKER",why?
OK,the money is probably talking, but he's been at Yamaha for 6 years & not even sniffed a win! This year he's Rossi's teamate, that'll be 9 nil to Rossi then!!
I really think Troy should have been given another chance,if only to reward him for giving Ducati BSB & WSB titles, has Carlos ever even ridden a Duke at ANY level?
I'm really disappointed with Ducati for this decision(& for replacing the lovely 916 with the ugly 999,but that's another story).i'll be telling anybody who'll listen to me on the Ducati stand at this weekends show!!:flame::flame:

Ray 01-Nov-2004 10:53

Did anyone see Claudio Domecialli's face watching Troy on Sunday. I thought he had the look of a man who was saying told you so to himself or oh dear we've sacked our best rider??!!

Ray

Steve M 01-Nov-2004 11:29

Checa will achieve axactly the same as he has on 250's 500's and MotoGp - nothing.
What are Ducati thinking about???????

Bad move.

JPM 01-Nov-2004 13:10

Checa is there due to money, nothing more nothing less, I feel for Troy, and to be honest I hope he gets the rumoured Honda ride and kicks Checa's and Ducati's backside.

The GP4 hasn't done anything this year and one podium each to Bayliss and Capirossi, admittedly Capirossi hasn't chucked it as many times, but I would think that's more down to the bike not the riders.

Chucka (sorry Checa) will be exactly where he was with Yamaha, nowhere, just making up the numbers, bagging a few points, if he's lucky.

Good luck Troy, hope everything works out for you

Rattler 01-Nov-2004 13:19

Stick him on a Kwaka!!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Felix 01-Nov-2004 19:37

Totally agree with you, Ray. Did you see the sideways glance he gave to Minoli standing next him? Says it all, really.

deej 05-Nov-2004 16:31

bit simialir to the toseland/laconi situation with tardozzi

its a shame money rules but if he does turn to the yellow side it should be a fun team with him alongside the elbow dragging tamada

Ian 05-Nov-2004 17:39

Bayliss on the Camel is very close to a done deal. Max has been riding in Repsol colours (no wording) on a black RCV211v this week. So once Max anounces what is really the number 1 ride in MotoGP I would expect to see the rest fall into place, - although financial issues with the likes of Aprillia and D'Antin need to be sorted and that may take longer.

As for the Tardozzi that look has to go down in history, well at least into this years Motocourse. But not surprising that Corse had expected Laconi to win; going into your home race leading a championship? He blew it big time, and Toseland proved a big point, and upped his contract value. Meeting him (J.T.) yesterday I was struck how much he had grown up (logical I know) in 2 years, he seems a very focussed guy now, not the shy young boy of the GSE team.

keefer 05-Nov-2004 17:58

didn't checa get the same points at the end of the season as cappa ?

deej 05-Nov-2004 18:30

yeah but on what should have been a superior bike, the yamaha did win the riders title and the team title so chucker should have been up nearer the front a lot more than he was

keefer 05-Nov-2004 19:10

only one Yamaha capable of wining the championship, and they wouldn't of done that without the Rossi factor

deej 05-Nov-2004 23:49

nope and it was the quickest again in valencia yesterday with cappi n chucker 1/2sec behind both doing a 1.33.9 compared to v.r's 1.33.4, gureschi wasnt that far behind with a 1.35.5

deej 07-Nov-2004 17:00

mmm 20 camel and a honda for troy

personally i buy what i want to buy and nothing to do with sponsorship deals but if thats what these big boys think its upto them, they probably had a uni graduate with a useless degree who spent thousands studying the increase of marketing and in sales of gauloises after rossi signed

sito pons confirm today to me on a email i wrote on their home page. that they will confirm the deal with bayliss very son.
so bayliss is going to rock on the rc211v next year.
i still have his helmet:sing:
but shal i sell the 999r
no i dont thiink so but ducati did some bad moves this year.
i am angry with them::::D

Ian 12-Nov-2004 21:02

the Sito Pons deal for Bayliss being good will depend on him being numer 1 in the team. The Repsol contract stipulates that only one other bike form the Honda private teams can get new factory parts, which is why Edwards was bitching all year.
