If you have in mind to go and play in France, better not to get nicked there. The myth of getting away with it with a slap on the wrist is well over.
If you get caught anything above 40kmh over the limit you risk having your bike immobilised, coming back as a pedestrian, £1000 or so fine and you only get your bike back once you paid up. Oh and you'll have to arrange for the bikes to be transported (at your cost) up to the border!

madmav 08-Nov-2004 20:50

just depends on where you go in france ;)

put it this way a mile from my house are 3 speed cameras

and if i do 35mph through all three of them i risk losing my licence and my business !

and a heavy fine ! so it sounds like i may aswell sell my bike and walk every where !
dont think so ;)

you're obviously not up 4 something different pugnet:smug:
each to his own :)

BDG 09-Nov-2004 13:04

Mav,

I'm up for something but would prefer over the water for obvious reasons.

After our conversation this morning i've got one of the guys interested in the Ring, just gotta work on the others AND prise their wallets open, ALWAYS THE HARD BIT!

Dunno how you manage it with such a big group you've mentioned, we have enough problems keeping a small tight group of regulars together, plus big groups attracts more attention.

Must practice 130mph stand up wheelies if i'm coming with you:devil: Hmmm! maybe just better practice wheelies;)

Ferrari Pete 09-Nov-2004 15:23

Am i getting it wrong or are you going because you can get better mpg on a longer run !

Mav just let me know what you have in mind......I might be able to keep up but could you supply me a map.

now I understand the MAD part!!!!!!!!

Ps. Is that midlands meet up still on?

pguenet 09-Nov-2004 21:22

Mav - it is not being up to something different or not.

I am just giving you an advice that France has changed. You are not imune to speeding prosecution anymore. Go to France and ride like a **** for any significant distance and you will get done. Cops are out and about a lot more than in the UK and they have implemented a zero tolerance policy for about a year. All my relatives and friends have been done for speeding recently and that includes people that would at most exceed the limit by 10mph!

Now if you don't want to listen and think you have more clues than I have about what is happening in my own country, go ahead, have fun but don't complain afterwards about having your bike confiscated, a massive fine and complications to get it back.

madmav 09-Nov-2004 21:37

pugnet ! it's not what you do it's where you do it !

and please tell me at what point in my original post

" gumball"

did i mention

A, Abroad
B, France

The question was who's up 4 a gumball? and i would of expected those who are to have replied and those who are not interested to pass it by! "simple"

i do know the score as to what is going on in europe as i spend most of my time over there!

But thanks for your imput anyway;)

The fact is pugnet
you dont know me , but i suspect that you have read my posts in the past and formed your own opion of me (right or wrong)

but i suspect wrong !!!
as most of the post's i have put on that you have replied to, have been decidedly on the negertive side;)

but thanks anyway after all it is an open forum

:smug:.....mav

chillo 10-Nov-2004 11:05

i was going to do the real gumball (france/spain/north africa and back) this year in my m3 cab but the £8k price per car was a bit stiff and i couldnt get any takers to split it with me! + you would need a few £k for fines and getting lashed with the hoorays:pig:

Simon
I know that route from Scarborough to stamford bridge over Garraby hill, we ride it from Fimber, dropping down on the other side of stamford bridge through Elvington towards howden.
i'll look out for you next year:frog::borg::D
