Best Race Bike Ever

so which is it ?.
Results don't have to count although I'm sure they will be a influencing factor.
Design, paint scheme or what ever flicks your switch.

I'm going with the Rothmans NSR ?
or maybe the Britten V1000
yep got to be that for me
sorry Ducati

Steve M 17-Nov-2004 13:31

For me there are 2.

Any Yamaha TZ250 - at any point in time a recent model would be the bike I would chose over all others

except a

Ducati Supermono

keefer 17-Nov-2004 13:35

good choice

Twinfan 17-Nov-2004 13:49

Hizzy's 2002 title winning Monstermob 998RS for me!

FiscusFish 17-Nov-2004 14:29

Honda's RC166 pictures here

250cc, 6 cylinders, 60hp, 18,000rpm(!!!!!!!!), 112kg and a noise like the end of the world.

The 888? Gauloises Yamaha YZ500?

But that Britten was sure a beauty!

skidlids 17-Nov-2004 16:49

The Britten is a great choice but prefer it in the Yellow and Black livery, I'm also a big fan of the Roton, the Cagiva GP500 bike, and lots of other race bikes from the past. How many pistons, valves and gears could H0nda fit into a very small capacity bike

Rocker 17-Nov-2004 17:03

K.R.'s TZ 750

Yep,
Got to be the Britten for me too. Just love the way all the bikes components bolt right onto the engine casings. Bit like the old vincents years ago.

I think you have to give the sadly late Mr. Britten his due for the astounding results he achieved with limited resources in a relatively short space of time. The good die young is only too true in his case.

.. Britten died as a result of skin cancer. No disrespect to him but I'd go easy on the nude sun bathing, OK? ;)

And if you haven't seen 'The Britten Story' on video or DVD go get it now!

rcgbob44 17-Nov-2004 21:12

Pic of the Britten in Black & Yellow

The Britten was first raced in this country by Shaun Harris at a North Glos Club meeting at Cloerne Airfield

skidlids 18-Nov-2004 00:37

The Roton

PDL 18-Nov-2004 00:49

Yama Gama 350

Norton Cafe racer

Cezeta 175

Mark 18-Nov-2004 09:21

One of my Fav's is the Norton JPS, here ridden by Steve Spray at Mallory.

Another bike i like is is from 2001 at Imola, Troy Bayliss Silver 998.

And last, Mike the Bikes '78 F1 race bike.

sbwells 18-Nov-2004 09:27

The V1000 Britten.................

End of Story.

Well maybe not but the bike was designed and built by a man who's thinking was about 10 years ahead of everyone else.

It wasn't built at Ducati Corse or HRC, the Britten was built in John's workshop and home surely makes it one of the greatest achivements in motorcycle history.

John Britten...................A Legend
