Trackday kit - A quandry I have the option to buy the Haslam Magny-cours bodywork for my 999 It's not going cheap, but there's a lot of carbon going on there... What do you think of the design? Haslam's 999RS04 Personally I think it looks as trick as hell, a one off by all accounts |
eek ! |
Go for it, I've seen it up close and the artwork involved is fantastic, not to mention the carbon:D |
i think it looks good but have to say it depends on how good a rider you are. would look a bit silly wobbling around in the novice group getting over taken by all and sundry with that kit on. |
i say go for it!! If only for the fact that it means I don't have to try and work out what to get you for Christmas if I can buy it for you :) |

Go for it, you can't beat having a bit of genuine racing history in your garage or on your bike. I have most of a Ex V&M CBR600 in the workshop dressed in the genuine Duckhams bodywork, I did have the whole bike, raced it for a couple of years then swapped a few bits to get it road legal. Next project is either a Ian Simpson or Jim Moodie Duckhams Ducati 955 to sit beside it, or a Steve Hislop Devimead Ducati, got the odd bit off each anybody got the bodywork ? Still I can always get it painted as per the pics I have. Reason for edit see futher down the page [Edited on 18-11-2004 by skidlids] |
Yes, go for it matey. It's just like having any other rep (Foggy, Bayliss, Hodgson, Fila etc) but more unique. Only down side would be if any parts or repairs were ever needed, but it could always be put back to standard. Looking forward to seeing it :burn: |
Go for it, it looks really trick!! Its a one-off, bespoke piece of kit - you'll regret it if you don't. Tim:frog: |
hmmm its a bit like foggy rep leathers ,if youre blindingly fast ok , if not it makes you a target...... second will the rs body kit fit a road bike? i was told it wouldnt as the side fairing brakets are sligtly different to the road bike, i think the seat is also a problem as the heat shield is attatched to the seat not the exhaust. but hung in the garage or at work deffo the dogs....... |
Well Freak isn't slow .... but mate, are you quick enough for that? I'd give it a bit of distance unless I thought I was very quick. Otherwise, I'd go for it - looks good and as Skids and Tim mentioned, a bit of racing history is always a nice thing to have :D |
You;re plenty quick enough!!! Go get it!! |

It's amazing he finds time for racing bikes with all his TV work. :frog: Darren |
How much is it , if you don't buy it I might be tempted , if I go too slow for it I can just say I'm letting people appreciate it :saint: |
Cheers Darren for pointing out the obvious blunder. Thinking of Ian Simpson and Steve Hislop in the same sentance obviously confused me, not a hard thing to do at the moment with the new job. Soon to be corrected to read Steve Hislop in place of Ian Hislop, hence the above coment for those coming to this thread later than others |

Speaking to the go-between between myself and Renegade it shouldn't be a problem fitting the kit, the seat unit could be an issue which was highlighted, but again, I'm sure I can sort that, done with 998RS bodywork etc I think it's a goer from the reaction on here! |
I guess I had better get the cheque book out then :) phew, at least I don't have to panic that you don't like your present... :D :D |
sorry i didnt want to sound all doom and gloom , i was just saying what id been told ,as i had the chance of also getting some factory fairing and was told it wouldnt fit the road bike!!!! but if it does fit youll have to put up a whole lot of pics up on the site...... |
Mate thought my bike looked loud !! Do it now even if it doesn't fit.....just make it fit ! |
JPM buy it mate, it's superb. Don't know what being quick has to do with anything, if that was the case, none of us would be riding our Ducatis!!! WeeJohnyB |
Just found this from my nec pics :D |
JPM, my only thought would be that I would never want to risk trashing it. Imagine if you where to rop her:( What would the cost be to rectify that paint job, besides fixing carbon:o |
I'd run it. But I don't have a 999 :( Got for it FREAK!!! |
I echo Jon's comment, lovely paintjob, but what if you dropped it-you'd never be able to get that matched up........ John |
There's the risk of dropping it, and trashing the paint job yeah, but it's way way cheaper than the carbon road kit on me old 999R at the end of the day |
ahhh then it is a bargin......... go do it...;) |
Bodywork looks the mutts nuts but... Does FF04 bodywork fit a 999R? I've got a feeling the radiator is a different size on the race bikes. :puzzled: |
I'll back that up TT. Got a mate who's fitted F04 bodywork to his 999. The radiator was a problem. Ended up having to cut slots in the side panels to clear the rad. |
