Any PADI divers out there? I got myself PADI qualified whilst in Jamaica last week and I'm looking to find out more about "open water" activities in the UK - bloody cold though!!! Any of you lot into this kinda stuff?? Tim:frog: |
I'm NAUI but I want to do a PADI conversion seeing as they are bigger. I wanted to get my wife qualified while we were on holiday next month and do a few refreshers - it's been a few years since I've dived. Who did you book Jamaica through? |
TP It was one of those all inclusive jobbies, so was part of the resort. Tim |

Cool - I'm interested in checking it out because I'm looking at a 'sun' holiday for next month. Incidentally, I can zip up a whole bunch of my IE favourites that have various dive shops and tours that run out of London. I did a bit of research on this a few months ago when I finally convinced Ange to get qualified. Let me know you want them and I'll mail them to your work address. TP |
TP - you've got a U2U |
Tim, I've got a friend who does all this diving malaryk. I'll see if I can get any info off her. [Edited on 19-11-2004 by Desmondo] |
Tim - save it for the warm, clear blue waters of foreign shores. Its too bloody cold and dark here.. you'll end up convincing yourself that jumping into a flooded gravel pit is a great way to spend a weekend :o:o I did my PADI many years ago, and its a little like learning to ride a bike...you dont forget how to do it, just need a little reminder every now and again. |
Totto is a PADI,well he is from Northern Ireland which is close enough!!:D |
BSAC,myself.Twenty miles out in the North sea on a dingy,with no vis!and that`s before you`re in the water:o:lol: |
I'm a PADI Rescue Diver with a few specialities and 70 logged dives. Looking for a London club at the moment to do some cold UK diving! |
I'm a PADI Advanced Open Water - haven't dived in the UK though. I prefer the warmer climes of Thailand, Red Sea etc. Just back from a week of outdoor adventure on the island of Hierro - got a couple of dives in over there in the marine reserve - well worth a look.:burn: |
Hi,another padi advanced diver here:bouncy:Been diving for about four years now and have only dived once in this country:ofar to cold and murky.Try to get one diving holiday in a year if poss.Red sea, one of the best and very cheap:sing: Cheers Matt |
BSAC considering a PADI conversion though. Haven't dived in UK waters for over 10 years. I was considering breaking my no uk diving rule to dive the Scylla though, as it's the first ship I served on during my illustrious RN career. But I hate the cold. |

A muff diver? |
Don't think so mate but I'll ask her  |
Rattler I'm a PADI open water diver just about to emigrate to Palm Cove (just north of Cairns), so within paddling distance of GBR. I'm currently in Plymouth where there is a flourishing diving scene, mainly due to the recently sunk HMS Scylla which is intended to become an artificial reef. There are a great many wrecks to dive down here and a number of dive centres (try Looe Divers - dont worry , they don't do sewer diving!!). Beware - water is cold so you will be diving in a dry-suit, and visibility is distinctly variable so you have to have a bit of luck |
