How many Superlights ?

post on this board ?

Well there's me (so that's one then.........)

How many more ?

ali 30-Nov-2004 14:18

I too own one of the most stylish, best sounding bikes on the planet. :D

I know of at least four others on the board with similarly good taste!

Ali

And me........

A fine example in the real colour......Yellow

94 Superlight III No 258:burn:

edwyun 01-Dec-2004 03:55

FE counts too!

beancounter 01-Dec-2004 09:52

Ah....

I don't want to seem sniffy but I don't think that the FE does count as a Superlight, although obviously it shared some of the parts...

More a model in its own right

Anyway, as we're only up to 4 Superlights perhaps we should count it anyway !

Is this all ? any more out there ?

FiscusFish 01-Dec-2004 10:33

There's mine too. Although it doesn't look too much like an SL anymore.... Doesn't even have the badge.... "Sniff"

Darren

superlight3 01-Dec-2004 10:38

3622....... :puzzled:

Official factory figures (not including the FE) :D

beancounter 01-Dec-2004 10:42

Good heavens Superlight3, are you up already ?

Only 3 bottles of Chardonnay last night ?

and where have all the Superlights gone ?

superlight3 01-Dec-2004 10:49

Oi Beany.... be'ave yerself!

I don't think I'm giving away any secrets here, but these are the official factory figures of SL production, broken down into each market share.

:(

I believe the FE was the final SL (at least that what the ducati literature says).

Cris 02-Dec-2004 00:04

there's me here too!:bouncy:

beancounter 02-Dec-2004 09:53

So that's 6 SL's and an FE.....

Not many !

Wonder where all the rest are ?

edwyun 02-Dec-2004 16:48

well, so far, i've located 105 of the 800 FE's in the world.

there are 11 FE's that I know of in the UK

888heaven 03-Dec-2004 23:29

SL

Ive had a MK 4 yellow SL for about 9 months lovely bike sounds the DBs with a set of Remus cans.
:bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

Redsps 04-Dec-2004 21:01

Great bikes.
I've had three along the way.
I found the best one to be the MK1 with the polished ally marvic wheels.
It had been tuned to quite a high level by baines before I aquired it. Also had dual oil coolers and other nice goodies on it, sounded really awsome, you could feel the ground vibrate beneath it.:D:D

cheers
robin

900SL Pete 04-Dec-2004 22:45

:biaggi: I'm a bit late coming to the party but I have just come out of ospickle, :barfy:

Mine is a 96 MK IV in Bootiful RED Number 730.
Best regards to all SL Owners out there:bouncy:

Redsps 04-Dec-2004 22:49

It's never to late to join the party mate.
Get well soon, and get back on that great machine.

cheers
robin

phil_h 19-Dec-2004 20:05

I'm another idiot with an FE, and they are definitely superlights !
Mine is #229 with the 'standard' silmotos, which noise-tested louder than the termi's on my black beast.
I've just decided to sell the FE (have loads of bikes) and am having second thoughts already after a nice ride to scrub in the new rear tyre !

migsangel 20-Dec-2004 10:50

FE's may be SuperLights or may not be..
Eitherway....I think the FE's are special enough to be in their own grouping...and will be more and more special as time goes on...just like the SuperLights...
I own FE #423...

I've got a 94 SL MkIII. No idea on the number. Dynojet Stage II or III (can't recall), Laser race cans (desperately seeking something std for MOTs!), polished rims, headers and top yolk, modified airbox with K&N. Had it three years. Did you all knwo there is a Superlight group on Yahoo. Also little known fact is in my company there are three of us (circa 500 staff) with SLs, well one in Holland and an SP in Cailifornia which is basically a Superlight but with a dual seat. Has the carbon bits on it

superduck 26-May-2005 10:52

Hi, newbie to this site, have Mk1 superlight number 333,
30,000 miles and still going strong.

ali 26-May-2005 11:35

Welcome to the board Superduck! Whereabouts are you? Any piccies of the SL?

superduck 26-May-2005 21:45

Hi Ali, I'm over in Northern Ireland.
Have attached a few pics.

superduck 26-May-2005 21:47

Here's another pic.

ali 26-May-2005 22:00

Ali

ps: I have exactly the same paddock stand and I too had it bolted the wrong way around for over a year....

sparkin 26-May-2005 22:08

Agree with you Ali that's it's Fecking gorgeous-but disagree on colour-early Superlights should be yellow with white writing-bloody lovely.

Thanks all for the compliments, got this bike when it was in a mess and restored it. Suspect that it started life as red, I repainted it in yellow. The original MK 1 for europe was all red, with some 300 Mk ones in yellow going to the states.
Restoration quite cheap thanks to ebay:)

beancounter 27-May-2005 15:49

Aha, I too thought that all the Mark I Superlights came in red, but I did not want to challenge the mighty Monty.

(by 'mighty' I mean 'old')

Steve M 27-May-2005 16:00

The earliest picture I can find of one is when they appeard at shows in 1991 and it's red - but maybe they did both (red and the faster Yellow colour;) )

Screwy 27-May-2005 16:02

Lovely job ,and i would love a set of those wheels for my superlight .

superduck 27-May-2005 16:47

Have checked Ian Falloon's restoration guide, there were 952 Mk 1's built, of which 300 were done in yellow for the states, also that this was the first time yellow was used by ducati on recent models.

755 Mk 2's were made

756 Mk 3's " "

850 Mk 4's

309 Mk 5's

800 FE's

beancounter 27-May-2005 16:50

Sheesh.....started this thread on 30th November 2004 and it's still running...

Is this a record ?

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

AL900SL 30-May-2005 13:42

It's not stopped yet.
I have a Superlight V 242. Red of course. Standard except for some SIL Moto cans. No pictures as yet, as I have not got one of those new fangled digie thingies.
Should be at Castle Commbe on the 4th.
Cheers:P

Andy H 06-Jun-2005 20:40

I also have a superlight it is the 1st edition. I do not have the fancy wheels on it though, i manage to find a front wheel but have not been able to get hold of the rear.

beancounter 07-Jun-2005 09:42
