Giss a job!!!!

Well it looks like I've managed to get the whole of December off !!!

A change of job means that I'm looking at a month's (cold and leaf covered) garden leave.

I know that if I don't keep myself busy I'll go mad:puzzled::puzzled::puzzled: :o:o:o

I reckon I could do any of the following;

- I've got the ZX to prep for the track
- sort a Desmo Due Monster out (I wish there was a decision made on this!!!)
- start an intensive gym program to get fit for next year
- sort all of "those" little jobs out in the house
- play lots of golf in the cr4ppy weather

The trouble is I could do all of those (bar the Desmo - bugga!) and still have time on my hands, what I can't do is sit around doing bugga all.

So anyone got a project/plan/build going on that they need a hand with?

If its your work/business, I could do a little "cash" work, or if its some home/personal stuff I'd do it for the price of a cup of tea and maybe a bed to crash in (if you're far away)!!!

In all seriousness, I'd happily help out with anyone's DIY stuff or similar - I just can't be idle. I've got plans for my house that are waiting for the legal go-ahead that I can't start yet - doublebugga!!!

So Jon - need a little help constructing/wiring?
Pedro - looking for some casual labour to lay those carpets?
Anyone else?

Drop me a U2U?

You could sort my garage out into a workshop and finish cleaning my bike/setting it up?

Are you slightly unhinged? I know you're full of beans but this is taking it to a new level!

So, moving within NetApp or off to EMC? :frog:

Lily 01-Dec-2004 11:26

Tim

I have loads you can do!!

748 needs a bit of attention and bodywork sorting :)
Lots of decorating/tiling/floor stripping

I have plenty of project work you can do, although not certain that any cash would be forthcoming!!

hmmm... what are you like at carpet fitting??

get your arse up north!!! I make tea/coffee/dinner and cakes if you ask nicely. Name your price!

I'd help you out with your bike if you like - not sure about cleaning her though - I like 'em dirty:barfy::barfy:

Cakes!!!! - I'm sold ! That's the best currency (currantsy???)
I'm sure I can come up and help out, as long as you're there too - I'm not looking to do anyone's jobs for them, just assist them.

Ok, I'll wait to find out about the job front then. Need me at your new job? I could do with having something organised for January as well ....

As for the bike ... I don't know if you could stand seeing my garage!! Which is why I need to sort it out. Put some stuff in self-storage, put a workbench up, bike lifter .. finish getting her cleaned up then a bit of maintenance. New quick release Sprocket carrier .... carbon frame protectors ... a few other bits and pieces

No worries :)

As soon as the kitchen is finished I will give you a bell :)

I'd rather do the Ducati parts fitting than clearing up your messy garage!! Don't forget that I've seen your bike and know how much you love to clean her!!

Oh just a simple combi boiler replacement... cash waiting for the first plumber that'll even return a phone call!

Ant... Documentum don't work properly anyway, doubt the rattly one could make it any worse! Just why does it keep losing my files anyway?? ok, I know, user error.

don't get me started on that one :(

British gas wanted stupid money, found a bloke who agreed to do it at a price (still ridiculous in my opinion) but he has promised to turn up every week for two months now and i can't even get hold of him anymore

:frog:

I'll only be selling it - no one said that it actually had to work!!!!

Don't really know why EMC bought Documentum anyway - other than to improve their gross margins.

Tim:frog:

TP 01-Dec-2004 12:53

At least EMC bought VMWare - very smart move.

I'm definitely in the "novice" group for plastering, but in the "fast" for kitchen fitting.

What needs doing?

Titchy Sony Vaio, has all plug in devices - inc A/D & E drive printer etc, as well as psion gold card - so cannot download anything onto disc from internet (as e drive uses same port). I can fit it into handbag tho!:D
Basically very slow to start up. Takes about 7 mins before I can log in my password, then another 4 - 5 mins before screen is loaded.
It has 2 x 'found new device' wizard pop-ups which I just cancel, before I can start using it.

I'm not the administrator for it, tho do have to log my user password to enter.... I dont have admin password either.
Needs everything being wiped (I think) then re-loading..

Ideas? - might be a job for a yukky day?

Let me know if up your street

We do have the dinosaur puter upstairs, which we find quick to use - I only use the laptop now when wanting to be sociable downstairs.

try installing bootvis, got it on my vaio and used it to identify where exactly it was slow. Turns out it was waiting for peripherals that were no longer there and hadn't been uninstalled correctly.

MARTIN H 01-Dec-2004 15:07

Portugal for a month? Anywhere near Vilamoura? I have a small place there that needs the exterior painting. A mate of mine is supposed to be going over to do it but he keeps putting it off. He was getting 2 weeks free accomodation in return for 3 days or so of painting. The place is virtually on the "old course" at Vilamoura if its golf you are into! I may go out myself yet now I have started to think about it.

Rattler 01-Dec-2004 15:31

I was staying on Vale do Lobo in September - played the old course at Villamoura too.
I may well be interested - I could quite fancy a few days painting and a few days golfing.

Jon 01-Dec-2004 21:36

Tim I'd love to give you a job, BUT! We work 8 hours plus a day without breaks. :( I'm not sure you are up to working 8 hours let alone a week in you profession. If I turned my back for a minute, you would be off to the golf course. Them lilly white delicate hands of yours, would not be able to cope with the rigger's of real work.:P

But more to the point. What could I pay you that wouldn't be a insult. With your life style, you probabley tip bigger that what I pay:frog:

pedro 01-Dec-2004 22:17

8 hours! part timer or what?

deej 01-Dec-2004 23:16

how good a job is carpet fitting, ive kinda been offered a trainee fitters job but dont know much about the difficulties of the job

Jon 01-Dec-2004 23:21

Dee its a job for wimps, ask Pedro:D

WeeJohnyB 01-Dec-2004 23:51
