Ouch my head...

Ack. Nightmare morning this morning!

Was on the company Christmas do last night. Free booze from 6pm until we went on to another *ahem* club and finally got home at 2am this morning.

Woke up late (on purpose) but then had the kids jumping
on the bed at 8am, with me still drunk. Not pleasant.
Jump in the shower, get ready, bus leaves in 5 minutes
from up the road so I'm out the door then realise I've
left the MP3 player inside. Back in, more kisses with
the kids, grab MP3 player, leg it up the road in the
pouring rain.

I managed to swipe a bottle of water from the fridge as
I left, so I had a swig and put it in my coat pocket.
Bus arrives (luckily it's the 8.55 which is ten minutes
late) so I sit and doze as it takes me to the station.

While I'm dozing I'm thinking that the drink bottle is
feeling a bit cold against my leg...

Get to the station and stand up, then realise that the
bottle has leaked into my lap and I look like I've
p155ed myself. Lovely. At least it's raining and
nobody will notice.

Fall asleep on train - trains stuck outside Gidea Park
due to a person being struck by a train, but luckily
we missed it.

Trousers / jacket / coat nearly dry as I leave the train
and walk out into the ****ing rain. Ten steps later and
my shoes leak, so I've now got soaking socks too.

I'm going for a sleep in the toilet. If I'm not back
in an hour call an ambulance as I'll probably have
fallen off an broken my neck at this rate.

Know the feeling well.

We had first company do last Saturday, (night wandering round Manchester), part 2, the meal with wives, girlfriends or both if you're really brave takes place this Saturday. I'm not looking forward to Sunday:barfy:

Christmas do? I should be so lucky.... not had one of them for nearly 10 years!!

andyb 17-Dec-2004 12:34

im just getting over our Doo last night, red wine and garlic are the main constituants of the evening. I didnt make the club.
Got another doo tonight, one of the team is leaving, then a Curry Sat night with all the neighbours.

Nice to relax at Christmas time!! and i dont mean my bowels either!

AK 17-Dec-2004 12:51

Had our xmas do yesterday too:) started at 11am with glass of vino at desks, then onto local golf club (which some of you went to in late Nov) for 'black tie/evening dress' lunch & afternoon frolics:cool:

A little worse for wear this morning, and trying to keep head together - as am being 'volunteer receptionist' today - as ours has too much of a hangover to come in!!:o:barfy:

At least I've got time to look at internet, instead of scoffing chockies at my own desk whilst scribbling:D

Antonye I bet you ended up blaming it all on the railway staff.
I just can't believe the sort of person we allow on our trains:lol::lol:

Ugggh! I hate that - the "still taste it the next morning" effect! Especially with something like garlic! I bet you're Mr Popular today!

Heh, well who else is at fault? Damn train drivers! Can't they just swerve and miss them or something?!

Unfoutunately we get a lot of this at this time of year in the last 24 hours I have had one attempted suicide at my station and one fatality at a near by station

I bet. It's got to be something pretty serious for anyone to contemplate chucking themselves in front of a train, but I do feel sorry for the train drivers who probably suffer quite a bit of trauma if they see it all happen.

esp if they've got a hangover like yours this morning, god sounds hellish.

I once fell asleep in a little chef toilet after a bike rally the night/morning before.
Couldn't understand why staff were laffing at me when I eventually emerged.......I'd fell asleep with head resting on chrome toilet roll holder and I had deep impression of short fat guy with tray in my temple.

I'm feeling a bit betterer now. Just has a nice chicken korma with some pilau rice.

A couple of more anadins and I'll be off down the pub at 5pm I reckon. :D

andyb 17-Dec-2004 14:58

Ant, you know im Mr Popular anyway.
Tel you what though, its brilliant for getting rid of all the people coming up and asking SFQ's.

My department's do yesterday as well, all those trains that you saw stopped in london, meant that it took me 3 hours to get from colchester to ipswich. So I was hungover and freezing my butt off on the platform, until they found a couple of prehistoric buses to ferry us to ipswich.

Mind you, I was at a retirement **** up in gwent couple weeks back. I'd planned what train i was catching, booked a taxi from the pub, to get me there 20 minutes early, enough time for a coffee and a smoke before the cardiff to portsmouth 2hrs:45min journey. Now anyone whose done this trip will know, it's a stopping train until salisbury.

So, taxi picks me, takes me to newport station, at 8:45. Train leaves at 9:10. Plenty of time. Buy an egg sarnie, a muffin and a black coffee. How i did this is beyond my, i'm bollox'd. phone my other half up, and chat to her for 5 minutes, then go for a pee. Loads of people in there, a cubicle is free, i sit down, for some reason. This is where i remained until 3am, when my missus rings me to see where i am, i only fell asleep! No trains for 3 hours! I went searching for a 24 hour cafe, there i stayed until 6!
