When\'s the best time for a blat over xmas? Ok...as the family make one big "sigh" and praise Allah that I am not cooking this xmas, I thought, seeing as I dont have to do a fat lot...When's the best/quietist time for me to nip out for a couple of hours over then xmas period? Ladies on the board....I am being inappropriate??? Gents on the board....What time and when would you go out? I remember getting a chopper when I was about 10 and going out on Xmas day...However, I am a bit older now...and I dont know if it will "wash"??? What do you think?...What will you do???:puzzled::puzzled::puzzled: |
Whenever you feel like it. Its your time off. Do what you want at your leisure. Its christmas after all. I cant wait as have only just bought my new S4 and only had one ride. Im out on it boxing day meet and going down to ck's on monday:D:D |
Lisa - having ridden the horses & bikes out over xmas - I find the best time is about 8am - 9.30 on xmas morning - ie, as soon as it is light. Roads are quiet, people getting up late, main church services not starting till 9.45/10ish. Either that, or about 1 - 2 ish, cos they all seem to have got to the rellies - but watch out for dog walkers at this time! Family dogs being walked before or after lunch - by rellies who dont have a clue - and the dogs often come rushing out into the road to chase bike or horse. Kids also wobbling into roads on new bikes/skates etc Boxing day, the same morning time too - cos shops not opening till later. If roads & weather ok, we shall certainly be out for a blatt while turkey starts cooking on xmas day, aiming to have bikes firmly tucked up by 11:) C:) |
a few of us are meeting up on the 28th kb you'd be v.welcome it would be a fair old trip though takes a good 70mins on the m1 this time of year meet about 10-10.30 for a big gutbuster breakie, then of for a quick bimble for an hour or so , then warm up in a pup somewhere [Edited on 19-12-2004 by Glyn] |
Hi Kwik The best time for getting out would have to be xmas morning to watch everyone else out with their christmas bikes, skates and jumpers. Simply ride along and randomly wobble and give the appearance that your bike is new, people will think you are the luckiest lady alive as you must be out on your christmas present. (sticking a bow on the tank can add to the authenticity of the illusion, albiet a little bit wrong) Another good one is to say that you need to go out to collect the 'suprise presents'! the whole family won't mind at all, in fact they will help you go. (this excersise is very effective for leaving but has been known not to prove popular upon empty handied return) Of course, the easy option for going out is wait until everyone has eaten and about to watch a film, I reckon that I will be able to go and return un noticed! Tip-Keep a little suprise back for the partner as a sweetner (give before you go if the idea is met with a frosty reception, or hold back and use upon your return, the latter gives you another 45mins bike time at aleast). My final strategic tip for an xmas outing is the secret weopen that all ladies have... yes you know what I mean. Lets just say that if I said before i went out "i've got a suprise for you when I get back" and winked making a gesticlular hip movement my better half would probaly throw me out but for some unknown reason it works the other way round! (less the hip movements) What ever you do, have a great time. Seasons greetings Mark [Edited on 19-12-2004 by cashburning748r] |
early aftynoon xmas day, something like 12 til 2 works nicely. Just make up some crap about having to go visit a dear old lady up the road who you just found out will be alone this christmas, then you might even score brownie points! |
I'm going t be servicing the car on Christams morning so if the weather is okay i guess i mught go out around lunch time although i'm not going anyhwere on it untill all the salt gets washed off the roads!! |

I have to do the Santa run on xmas Eve...then wrap presents whilst the other half gets plastered...stockings filled and on the bed, and xmas day I will be driving my Dad about so no fear of that....sigh:( |
Didnt think they were allowed to do random breath tests.:o [Edited on 19-12-2004 by rockhopper] |
Strictly speaking random breath testing is a no no...however......... You can be stopped for the purposes of checking you are licenced & insured to drive the vehicle you are piloting. Once stopped, the cop only has to "suspect" you may have had a drink & you're bagged. You can be stopped for any moving traffic offence & bagged. Have an accident & you're bagged. And of course driving in a snake like manner will deffo get you! The long & short of it is that it is dead easy to justify a breath test which means it's dead easy to get caught. I personally have witnessed the demise of numerous licences the morning after - one of whom had done nothing wrong but another car ran into him - the offending driver was sober & the "innocent" one was over the limit. There is a big anti drink drive campaign running nationwide into the New Year.... As for the how much can you drink...... None is the only totally safe amount! |
I quite agree Andy. |
Lisa, best time for a blat? When the thermometer reaches about 20c and it stops bloody snowing (Lily has obviously been doing one of her snow dances!) |
