What this Club is all about........

As some of you may be aware, its likely that I'll be leaving these shores in search of work, and the dosh to "top up" my retirement fund, well more likely the dosh to spend on Blooo Duke.

So on Saturday, off I jolly well ramble to Nelly's for the usual Bacon Butty, a bit of banter and the social stuff that normally happens...........
So I turn up and think, blurdy heck, its crowded in here today, but get a brew, Nelly gets about a dozen bacon/saus/egg combinations of giant butties and all is really great
There woz:-
KB and Rushjob, Rockhopper and his other- Lynn, Glyn who'd ridden up from Northhants, Me, Nelly, Old Yella (Geoff) turned up from Selby, where ever the hell that is???, Rob and Mrs Rob (I'll remember her name one day, srri Mrs Rob) Yeti, Dick and some others, so you can see that its a great big social DSC meetup. If Ive left anyone from the list, then I apologise in advance of the ****ging Im likely to get,
Well fuelled up on the blurdy great butties and rolls, watered with copious amounts of tea and coffee, when Nelly said to me

"You dont geddit, do you Mort??" Get wot m8, woz the reply.

He then says, all these peeps are here for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! me, no, go on, get orft, youve gotta be jokin, but I must admit I did feel a tear or two start to well up.
Loadsa good luck cards, wish you well in your new job, etc etc then a large box woz placed in front of me.
A superb cake wiff a piccie of Blooo Duke on the top, and a superb artists drawing of Blooo Duke in a frame and all that.........speechless, most of you never seen me speechless, but I was then..................
People had ridden or driven from very afar just to give me these presents and wish me well. Guys and Gals, that dont happen in other clubs
I just want to take the effort to thank those that turned up, and those that sent their wishes,
What a better bunch of mates could anyone ask for?

I really was surprised and touched, so to you all that organised the day, turned up or sent their wishes, THANKS

This is what the DSC is all about, a great bunch of peeps who I am proud to call mates.;):):P;):):P

I hope that my travels dont start too early in the new year, but let me take this opportunity to wish all DSC peeps and visitors to this thread

A very happy Christmas and a merry New Year

Bestest Mort (in a slightly choked up and speechless way):bouncy::bouncy:

and if I ever work out to get the piccies of cake and picture orft me phone onto here, I'll let you see them

Would have loved to have made it up there too, Mort, but previous day's birthday celebration in Paris with No. 1 daughter barely left me with enough energy to make a cup of tea on Saturday morning.

Wishing you all the very best in your pre-retirement, cash hoarding, job which you know will be worth it in the end. And you'll be back for lots of trackdays. So Smile :D:D:D:D Two years flies by. D:D:D

QB u2u'd me Mort asking if I could make it. Sorry I couldn't due to work commitments, I could not say anything in case I ruined the surprise.
Good luck young fella, I hope it all works out for you.

Iconic944ss 21-Dec-2004 01:20

Mort,

I didnt realise myself marra - last post I read from you was nice stuff about max horsepower and sublime handling (Oh I think Blooo Duke got a mention too :D ).

Good luck in your travels anyway.

(ps If you do get to the States, slip a pair of new heads in for me as well would ya - lol).

Regards - Frank

Steve M 21-Dec-2004 09:54

bets of luck bloo dude

just think, no more waking to the sound of race engines on a sunday morning
:)

Jools 21-Dec-2004 10:05

Sorry I didn't make it Mort...

I was going to borrow Monty's bike and had it all lined up when Fordie called and said it looked as if we'd be riding up into all the sleet and snow that was forecast for Saturday, and that it'd probably be getting late by the time we got home. I don't mind riding in sleet or snow (as long as it's not settled on the roads), and I don't mind riding in the dark.

But...

I'm just too bone idle to have washed Monty's bike down in the cold and dark.

:rodent: "Jools, you could've ridden it through all the sleet and snow, got it covered in a nice crust of salt and just handed it back to Monty"

Jools: "Damn, why didn't I think of that"

psychlist 21-Dec-2004 10:59
