I\'ve found a bike....!

In fact I've found two!

I'll be busy this weekend kicking tyres, so watch this space for more soon!

/excited

dickieducati 05-Jan-2005 11:48

tell me where they are, go on please, go on.

i wont out bid you, honest!

antonye 05-Jan-2005 11:53

Nope - both of these were found through hours (well, a few minutes) trawling small ads and putting in some ground work.

I found lots of 620s for you guys that want them, but none have been under 3295!

NBs996 05-Jan-2005 12:21

come on then blokey... what ya getting?

antonye 05-Jan-2005 12:28

I'm keeping it cheap, so it's an early 600SS.

I hated the Monster 620ie I had while mine was in for a service, so it has to be a SuperSport for me. Not that it may be any different to a Monster, but surely it can't be any worse?!?

skidlids 05-Jan-2005 12:31

Yep had a trawl through various sites yesterday and came across a few bikes but it does depend on how much your expecting to pay.
Keep us informed Antony. I'm still waiting to hear when and where to pick mine up.

Desmondo 05-Jan-2005 12:57

And guess what muppet is getting up in the early hours to go and look at it with him :(

Oh BTW Ant, can't use the trailor, ma need the shogun as she's going out for the day.

antonye 05-Jan-2005 13:18

No worries mate, will ring round for a van ... unless we knock up Dickie and bring him along as well?

dickieducati 05-Jan-2005 13:20

sorry cant help.............dont want to be seen to be coluding with the enemy!;)

no my trailer is at jhp waiting to bring my steed back when all the work has been done on it. so no use to you unless you are viewing anywhere near coventry!

Git!

No worries - I've booked a Transit from National just up the road for £41 for the day instead.

:P

antonye 05-Jan-2005 13:39

Sorry Steve - missed your post and I've already booked it.

Thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it!

The rental place is literally 2 minutes walk up the road, so it's so easy for me to pick a van up and drop it off when I'm finished without putting anyone out.

antonye 05-Jan-2005 13:42

What!?!?! You can't buy a proper ramp!!!! What about your lovely scaffy board?!?!?!

NBs996 05-Jan-2005 13:45

brilliant ramps them are steve... I got one last year and can push the 996 up it ON ME OWN!

so ant, what's the plans for ss? is your ebay watch list as big as mine?!!

1. Don't Crash.

That's about it at the moment!

I'll probably go a full service / setup / check somewhere and then sort out some fairing and a few bits and pieces like rearsets and that. But nothing too adventurous!

NBs996 05-Jan-2005 14:04

that's probably the way to go.

I've got too much time off work, too much shopping time... I think I'm coming down with "weeksy fever"!

That bike has been up for sale for some time now - I think Weeksy posted it back at the start of December!

There are plenty of bikes out there - just keep looking.

NBs996 05-Jan-2005 17:46

plenty out there, but not easy to find a 2nd hand jobbie for a decent price.

can't wait 'til my new toy is delivered! :D

antonye 05-Jan-2005 17:48

M620 Dark Twin is it Sir? :puzzled:

NBs996 05-Jan-2005 17:55

it's a secret ant

but it won't be very dark once we've finished with it (whatever "it" is)!

Rattler 05-Jan-2005 18:09

purple?

Mark 05-Jan-2005 18:23

Helmet?

NBs996 05-Jan-2005 18:27

flanker dude,

first you think No77 might be a bloke, then you're winking at desmondo, now asking about my helmet...

do you have a closet to make an exit from? :o

Darren

antonye 05-Jan-2005 21:50

Arrrg! The guy has only gone and sold it for £1475 tonight when he said I could have it for £1100 !!

:flame:

Oh well, time to phone the reserve advert!

antonye 05-Jan-2005 21:53

Double arrrg!

The reserve bike has sold too!

skidlids 06-Jan-2005 00:08

Double unlucky Antony, still I'm sure you will pick one up soon.

antonye 06-Jan-2005 00:56

Yep - prices seem to be at a premium right now with everyone trying to pick one up!

Will just have to wait and see...

I'd be curious to know what the turnover on ownership of these bikes are - would 20-30 people looking for old 600SS and monsters distort the market? Let's face it, if it was for personal transport almost everyone would prefer the 750 flavours (if the 900/1000's were out of the question).

Similarly, are we all going to get virtually nothing back when 30 x raced 600SS and monsters hit the market at the same time?

skidlids 06-Jan-2005 09:45

Hopefully the bikes will be developed into worthwhile track tools that could also be used for trackdays, you only have to see WJB on his CB500 on a trackday to see power isn't everything and with the odd Ducati only trackday each year some of the cheaper ones should fair well on the 2nd hand market providing they remain useable on the road all be it with maybe a light fitting exercise.

If I come last, does that mean I can ask for the most money on the basis that it hasn't been thrashed? :D
