A NICE looking modern \'SS\' I'm sure Paulmort will forgive me - but I just saw this SS on a German Ebay auction (for the pipes I think) and LOVED the look of it........... I just dont like the new shape SS fairing and this one RULES! Cool swingarm, wheels, PFM SBK brakes all help of course  Enjoy |
|
What exactly do you dislike Frank? The rear end is fairly "square" dont you think??? It does make the rear end look deceptively higher though. When you say modern dont you think that it is going back to the ss of the mid 90s, not that I dislike that look? Is it the half faired variety that you dislike or just the "cut outs " of the full faired one? I do like the colour, under seat?/ high level exhausts and the wheels. And yes that swingarm is luverlee:D |
Oh! and even though I have one...I really HATE the noses:( |
Sorry Lisa - yes - its the cutout section on the fairing lower in line with the wheel spindle that I just dont like the look of. Just looks like a shark about to attack or something. Could be right, of course!!! :D:D:D I guess I'm stuck in the 1990's yes - I go all weak knees over an 888 !!!!!! Frank |
There is a guy who lives round the corner from me who has a Yellow 750ss 95 I think it is... I love his bike it is so distinctive... I've never "heard" mine...just listening to him riding up the road gives me goose bumps...I just imagine it is what mine sounds like to everyone when i'm riding through the backstreets home! |
here is another way of doing it - makea the front look a bit nicer - but he forget the lowers - lol !!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...9069 013&rd=1 [Edited on 12-1-2005 by Iconic944ss] |
Frank, no offence taken m8. I must admit I do like the styling, and especially the wheels. The swingarm looks and old type to me with the concentric ring which adjusts the chain and stuff. Note also the back end looks cleaner but he's got no hugger My one concern would be the severe angle of the pipes as they rise from low level. Looks as though you'd keep scorching the heels on your boots, and on mine I still manage that sometimes esp. when Im on a long ride and moved balls of feet off the end of the pegs. But, yeah, those really hi level cans look great NELLY..........., where are you............................................... ......................... bestest mort |
The metmachex swingarm is the same as is on mine (still down at Nelly's so you can have a look) - swap for your heads??:devil::devil::devil: |
You must have seen my ss............. I was soooo pleased when they released the 999 :sing: ![]() ![]() Race cans removed for daft rules at Donnington in 2003, look at them tyres !! I will keep her forever..Andy [Edited on 13-1-2005 by andys 900ss] |
Ive got the 1000SS and agree with you Lisa the front end lets the bike down but these nose fairings are superb! Does anyone know if they are easy to fit? Presumably they are off standard 999/749s? Thing I hate about mine the most is the crappy light it gives out, useless! Apart from that I love it, just had race cans fitted (Two Brothers Racing) and are they noisy! Fanbloomintastic! :D |
I'm not sure they are just from standard 999/749s Scully. I think the stacked headlight for the SS is a custom fairing. Check out these two sites - http://www.ducati-kaemna.de/cms_en/index.htm http://www.diopa.com/shop/shop.html Cheers PhillC |
LOL - OK - even more then: ![]() |
Frank and its the real colour as well:bouncy::bouncy: |
I actually like it better.... ...with a bellypan... [Edited on 16-1-2005 by phillc] |
different bike but - yes - point taken. |
Dunno why but it seems the Germans make a lot of the cool stuff still available for SS's. Darren |
Cant rate Kaemna enough...cheap and fast responsive service...and the stuff is of quality!:) |
How did you pay them Lisa? Darren |
Hi Scully, My front fairing was custom made from a shop in france called Desmo or something, I'll dig out the invoice for the details. The normal beam light is really good and gives alot of visibility, although they are biased to the right as they continental. The top light (high beam) does nothing exta though..... Black belly pan takes at little of the shark out too. Andy [Edited on 18-1-2005 by andys 900ss] |
To Andy, Just out of interest, i have the stacked HID headlights also and was told by a bike shop that it wouldnt get through its MOT cos there is no side light or parking light at the front. As mines coming upto MOT time this year just wondering if you could make something up like the 749 / 999s have with a small parking light in the top part of the fairing. |
Hi Mark, I got that comment last year at MOT time. The fairings been fitted about 4yrs now and MOT'd at all sorts of garages. This year I have fixed it! When the side light put on, it brings the main light on like a Volvo.....eeekkk (just don't use it as a parking light, low battery can blow regulator anyway). Worst case was to add ultra-bight led into the light enclosure. As the high beam light is the same as the main beam it can be used as an alternative if the main beam was to blow a bulb, as recently happened.... Also when you feel a change, use the other ??!! Andy [Edited on 19-1-2005 by andys 900ss] |
Ok thanks for that Andy. So did yours fail its MOT due to not having that side light then? and if i wired the side light to the main beam so that the main beam came on when switched to side lights would this be ok for a pass on mot. Mark. |
Mark, Havent been yet, the weather has been so sh*t and I've spent lots of time cleaning her this winter !!! I'll go on the first dry day......thats about March then!!!! Andy |
Thought this ss looked quite nice :) Darren |
