pre race introduction school/ACU test snetterton 19/20th feb

i will be doing this to get my ACU license and learn a bit about racing. its meant to be good and save going to rugby/using a days holiday. you also get to practice some grid starts and you can do practice on the other day if you want for an additional cost. bemsee are awy till the 18th so i will book it then if anyone else fancies joining me.

Deffo interested in doing this one - does it mean that we have to pay extra to join through Bemsee, get the ACU back, then join New Era for the DesmoDue though?

Or can we just do the pre-race booked through Bemsee and then use that to join New Era?

Just wondering like!

dickieducati 10-Jan-2005 18:08

may have to join bemsee too but should not be too much and to be fair its alot cheaper doing it than for me than taking a day off work and going to rugby plus you can actually get your bike on track and have a bike of a dabble.

antonye 10-Jan-2005 23:00

Good plan sir. Let me know when you book me in :D

Looks like a goer for me too as it's on a weekend. Let us know the bemsee details when they get back DD.

Cheers,

ali

ACU?

How does it get you your ACU ticket. I did one of the schools last November. Does that mean I don't need to go to Rugby?

dickieducati 18-Jan-2005 14:43

no, they only do this once a year in feb i think. its run in conjunction with bemsee and incorporates the test necessary for the ACU. i just spoke to them today as my bike will still be mainly in road trim but they said just take off the lights and indicators etc.

i will be booking up for the saturday if anyone else fanvcies doing it too. i may book up for testing on the sunday as well but i will wait and see how my bike comes along first.

all the forms for the ACU, the course and BEMSEE joining are on their site.

Just had a chat with Bemsee, and it looks like it'll be easiest to send all ACU paperwork directly to them before the induction event. Price is £125 and includes the £50 exam fee and lunch, but it's another £25 to join the club. Forms can be had at their website :

So which day, and will you be taking the 600s?????

multi600: I should give the ACU a call and check the school is acceptable.

dickieducati 18-Jan-2005 15:06

i am putting in for the saturday, so if it turns out to be good weather; by some freak of nature; i can do the sunday testing. i think 79 quid through ESS.

i will be on the 'croatiasun' monster 620. :D

ali 18-Jan-2005 15:14

Errrmmmm... Bemsee have the track for both days, or am I missing something????

I'm in for a £70 sunday if it's up for grabs. :D

dickieducati 18-Jan-2005 15:20

you can do the course on either the saturday or sunday. and they are also running acu testing on the same days.

so if you do the course on the saturday you can test on the sunday and vis versa.

Senna3 is doing the school at Pembrey with North Glos race club who are certified to run the ACU training. He has to pay £18 to join North Glos, £50 for the school that is run on the Saturday, then he gets the Sunday practice day for £60. So a total of £128, bit more than going to Rugby, but no day off needed and he gets tracktime on a track he has already done a trackday on.

dickieducati 18-Jan-2005 15:24

yes the weekend day and the fact that you learn stuff about how a race day runs, scruitineering etc and also learn about 'racing manouvers' swung it for me. you also get to practice grid starts and the like.

ali 18-Jan-2005 15:46

I'll book for the Saturday, but I'm not sure what state the 600 will be in by then so it might have to be the SL. It's a shame as Snet was my first TD and I'd love to try and beat my best SL lap time on the SS.....

Taking days off is not really an option so weekends are a much better bet, plus all the benefits Dickie listed. Should be a top laugh, bloody cold, but definitely a laugh!

Not the 999! You should really bring something faster than my SL....

I hope to take the 600, just depends on how quickly DLS get my belts, filters, etc to me, and whether I can find some sort of bikini fairing by then.

As for keeping the beast secret, it's only a wee 583.... not some methanol-feulled, nitrous-injected, fire-breathing 620 like yours...

antonye 18-Jan-2005 16:47

Can't make that weekend as I'm already booked for something else :(
