TA4 camping

As I understand it, Cadwell, like all of Palmers circuits, will NOT be available for camping this year.

I am fairly fortunate in not having to travel too far, but it's gonna be a haul for some of you guys coming from the south if you can't stay there the night before.

When this happened before at Snetterton, I was told by the circuit managment that for a small consideration (£125), thye would put on a security guard and that we could camp.

Would it be worth the managment team looking into this and seeing how the land lies?

Quite apart from the convenience, it most definately added to previous Cadwell TA's.

Ill get right on it mate-no point in having a motorhome if I can't stay in it at the track.

Monty,

Please let us know what the script is old fella! :P

We're in the same boat as you.

Cheers!

Does this mean that you can't stay at Cadwell overnight at all?
What about the first DD event? Do I have to travel up on the Saturday, then off somewhere else for the night then back again on Sunday???

Seems crazy!!

Maybe its a way of supporting the local B&Bs?????

WeeJohnyB 18-Jan-2005 17:43

Tim - only applies to trackdays - there is always camping the night before a race meeting - if there wasn't, it would be a shambles the morning of the race. Depending on the circuit and the type of meeting, you have to get there early to grab a decent space otherwise you'll be 3 miles from the action. First there spreads out the contents of the van to keep space for the others, especially for plugging into electric. Same applies to the night before the circuit organised practice days prior to race day. Even if you're out the back of your car with a trailer, there's still plenty to do and people like to get there early to get settled and prepared. Some of the teams have mega trucks and awnings with several bikes to set up - its like a mini WSB paddock, a small town that goes from meeting to meeting - great community - one of the best parts of racing.

The tale i heard about camping at Cadwell was that some of the locals had complained about the noise!!

kwikbitch 18-Jan-2005 21:00

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

But....But...but...(slaps hand repeatedly on the desk!)
IT'S A RACE CIRCUIT!!!!!!!

rockhopper 18-Jan-2005 21:02

Maybe it was your snoring that did it?

I meant it was the noise of people partying into the night especially during the week. I can imagine that would get a bit irritating after a while.

Dukerob 18-Jan-2005 21:11

stroll on you'd need the adhesive boys there to party that loud !! :burn:

pedro 18-Jan-2005 21:12

theirs one of them at donington too!,maybe they are related? ( the complaining type that is about noise)

Read Jools thread about car testing at Millbrook or come and sit in my garden on any sunny sunday and you will find out how annoying motorbike noise can be especially when you have to shout to talk to your friends!

I have friends who live about 5 miles from Darley Moor and they can clearly hear the noise of bikes on race days. They havent complained ( they accept that the track was there before they were) but they constantly comment about it.

Anyhow, i wasnt talking about bike noise, the story i heard was that the locals had complained about music etc being played late into the night. Cant think how close the nearest housing is to Cadwell though.

Monty 19-Jan-2005 21:28

"Cant think how close the nearest housing is to Cadwell though. "
A VERY long way mate-that's why there have never been any noise restrictions at Cadwell trackdays-they are always full noise.

I believe the circuit is now owned by a certain Mr J Palmer who was disgraced the F1 circuit. I have a friend who is a close friend of Palmer and he's seeing him this weekend. I have asked him to ask nicely for us. Probably won;t go far but it doesn't hurt to ask, especially as Mr P wants my pal to do him (MrP) a BIG favour. Here's hoping.

Glyn 20-Jan-2005 00:57

no camping!!
sod n balls
buckeats of filth etc
thats th bit i was looking forwards to
is there a dsc member lives local that can check out the nearest locak farmer that wants to make a few notes for rent of a feild

That would have been Dave Harris then, maybe the ban only applies to him. :frog:

In defence of my last post
I am presently full of the flu and had been on the port and brandies (for medicinal purposes) quite a lot last night, basically I was drunk
Also a couple of lemsips
Mine is not the best spelling in the world, but it’s not normally that bad!
And yes it is probably just a cold and I’m being a wuss

I'm glad someone has found this out - I will hopefully be vintage racing on the sunday and (ta4 entry dependant !) hoped to just stay overnight !
I'll bet they won't have thought of that !!!
If I do get a place, I will make my duc 350 single racer available for testing by interested parties !

Now that would be good!
I've always fancied a 350 racer.

Simon Reed 21-Jan-2005 10:28

Theres a pick nick area about 5 miles away from Cadwell in Market Rasen, they call it "Willingham Woods "where they have a weds nite bike meet, toilets etc, trucks & the like use it on an evening, that would suit i'm sure,& it's Council owned !
just a thought !

Now then, I'm definately up for that, be interesting to see if I can go round faster than on my 500cc Gilera...........
I'll have my ST4S available for a swap for a session.

Might have sorted the camping issue. :sing::sing:

Monty, I'll call you later to discuss.

yeti 29-Jan-2005 10:34

Hpoing to have some positive news by Monday. Watch this space.

yeti 30-Jan-2005 11:20

Looks like we gonna be able to camp over. Just got to let the circuit know how many are likely to want to camp, and there MAY be a small contribution toward security.

Watch this space. :sing::sing::sing::sing::sing::sing::sing:
