Stripped the 900 Superlight
 

I've stripped the Superlight and whilst apart I've decided after seeing others on the site topaint the wheels Satin Black.
So follow the links and see what you think!

Hopefully the feed back will be good and I won't have to repaint them back to the silver gold colour that nobody seems to be able to match.

Just a quick question, what have you cleaned your calipers with, mine have ingrained sort of brake dust that doesn`t seem to come off where as yours look like new, same goes for the bottom of your forks, have you buffed them up ???
We will have to meet up this summer seeing as you are close by

Clean Calipers
 

Ian,
I clean the wheels and calipers with several house hold cleaners.
Halfords wheel clean.
'Cillit Bang' is also good for cleaning wheels/ calipers but test on an area first.
You know the scouring pads the missus uses with foam on one side and green gauze on the other, works well with T-cut mixed with white spirit,
but not all the above together.
Try one after the other starting with the latter.
Hope this is a good tip.

Tried the T Cut and white spirit using a scourer, :D:D Wow bought my calipers up a treat. Top Tip that mate

Finished the bike and went for a blast.:bouncy:

Then had to spend next half hour cleaning road salt off!!!!

Hi Stu,

Saw your 600 on post about white frame. I had a 600 ss for 3 years with no problems at all. I decided I would also like to fit a single seat, twin exhausts, carbon bits etc. But when I toted up the costs it seemed more viable to buy the 900 Superlight. So think about how much you are willing to spend on it and save those pennies towards a bike that has the bits fitted by someone else!!:)

The difference between a 900 SS and 900 SL is that the superlight has the extra's fitted as standard.
Brembo floating disc's
Single race seat, so no pilions on an SL
Carbon Clutch cover
Carbon front fender
Carbon rear Hugger.
Carbon twin exhausts usually Termis'
The engine mods may include higher compression etc but I'm not technically minded enough to confirm this although others might be able to shed more info.
All in a package which you can now pick up for between £2000 - £3000 depending on the condition.
Not the fastest bike in the world but a head turner and very pleasurable ride all the same.
I only use this in dry weather, so as we live in this country of mixed and varied weather I only do about 1000 to 1500 miles ayear.
So it deppends what you want out of your motorcycling and if you can afford to keep a bike in the garage or lounge? for most of the year.

Superlights have the standard 904 engine and didn't come with carbon exhausts (never mind Termi's) as standard.

Appologies beancounter, as i said i'm not quite sure of the technical spec. But still a great bike for the money!!

I'm not going to bother with twin exhausts or probably not even twin disks. I don't like the way my wheels have been finished in red with silver rims so I will be changing them and probably to black because I like the way they look and maybe a single seat unit.

I'm totally happy with the performance of it because in real terms its plenty fast enough. I've had 140bhp bikes but there is not a lot of places to exploit that kind of power, too many riders try to make up for lack of skill by buying faster bikes, it just makes them more dangerous.
My favourite pasttime now is getting out on the twisty roads and making the superbikes look silly. The 600 handles like a 250, I can throw it round bends like its a toy, its one of the best little packages I've ever ridden if you take it for what it is. Fair enough its not as fast as any of the other bikes I've had but everytime I ride it I have a grin like a cheshire cat.

Its a dry weather toy and will sit in the garage until I feel like a spin, although we have got a trip planned to ride down to my dads house in the South of France in August.

Nough said we all know that Cheshire cats ride Ducati's
