Ive just had in 4 pm's from VD - one is really helpful from a chap we know called Will at Streefighter.

Misterpink - info:

"Hiya

Just read about your mates Ducati - I'm just finishing off Streetfighters mag for next month - I can put a 'stolen' advert in there if you want? If you have a pic, shunt it over to me at ******** with all the info.

Will "

If you like - send me info & I can pass onto him, as mag is going to press this week.

Gutted for ya
The courts need to come down harder on these theiving scum to discourage them from doing it. Sadly they all to often appear to get away with it.

I never did see my Bimota YB10 again and only the frame from my GSXR1100 down at the local nick

GsxrAge 18-Jan-2005 23:54

Sorry to hear of your bad luck mate.

My other half always complains that the garage is like "fort knox" might buy some more locks just incase!!!!!!!

ak47 19-Jan-2005 11:14

Sorry to hear you news! Just as I was considering leaving mine out in the street in london!!!

Hope you get it sorted soon!

misterpink 19-Jan-2005 16:07

Thanks everyone - still can't believe it..............CK / AK have sent a pic to your e-mail address, The worrying thing is that it must have been so premeditated - i arrive home at 7p.m. to take over kiddy duty - put two(of 3) to bed at 7:45 - my wife arrives home at 9 - no bike. checked with neighbours and guy over the road saw it being dragged into a white van at 7:50p.m. no alarm going- nothing !!!!!!!!!
i had a bike stolen from work and so parked the 748 in undergrnd carpark with security guard after that which cost £3 day but peace of mind.
take care everyone and more than that watch what parts you are buying and from whom.

ak47 19-Jan-2005 16:11

Where do you live? I have heard of bike thieves waiting on the embankment for bikes they fancy and following them home. A friend of mine had 2 bikes stolen, both within 15 minutes of him getting home.
The police say it is quite common.

misterpink 19-Jan-2005 16:19

well i work in clerkenwell(live in norf london) and there is a bike park here we have nicknamed "the showroom" it is a regular spot-it even has the pull up anchors installed, but they still nick'em. yeah - the copper on the phone was pretty calm and said much the same - just haven't been able to catch them at it.

Mr C 19-Jan-2005 16:24

**** new that I had a Car nicked in Nov, Still not been recovered  Would be really gutted if the bike went.
Mine does live in the house but am still considering an anchor point.

Guido 19-Jan-2005 17:57

Gutted for you MisterPink.

I'd like to think you'd get it back but I'll just wish that you get the insurance payout sorted ASAP.

misterpink 19-Jan-2005 18:54

chances of getting it back - miniscule - yeah i often have mine in the front room too - i will probably have the next one(??? first positive thought today) beside the bed. just be very suspicious of any van you see parked in your street or around the corner. regarding insurance - i hope this is just painless and no hassle really.

marksduc748 19-Jan-2005 23:20

feel for you mate and hope there ear holes turn into ********s and **** down there own backs. my mate had his go missing and he rang taxi companies and explained his situation and they kept a look out for him and he got it back just with egnition damage, might be a little late for you to do that but anything could help.
good luck!

weeian 19-Jan-2005 23:38

That is totally Sickening mate, really gutting, hope the insurance sort it quick, what more can we do when these guys are following bikers home to get their address?

Im sorry to hear the crap news MisterPink.
If they get caught, is it illegal to drop fully fuelled 748's on their shins, while said legs are held up by housebricks at the heels............they deserve nothing less, mind you, Im told a "breaker" bar, with a socket the size of a wheelnut, is legal to keep ""just in case you need to change wheel, 'onest hofficer""" I was thinking the damage that could do the their knuckles, one at a time and very, very, slowly..................mind you I dont advocate this violence NOT
Hope you get some decent news

sorry to hear this mate.....I had a bike stolen 3 times a few years ago, twice outside my home and once at work.. Got returned each time minus expensive bits. Hope it turns up (unharmed) or you get paid out fully soon.

andyb 20-Jan-2005 22:37

I hope your insurance covers it left outside your house?? any update?

Col996s 20-Jan-2005 22:38

Not quite in the same league but just popped up the local shops on my mountain bike, left it outside unlocked and some bar steward has had it away. Stupid thing to do not to lock it but I was only in there for a minute or two and I'm sure we've all done it. Not an expensive model but quite new.
I hope they find your bike Misterpink.

These people deserve a slow cancerous death !!

Why is there so much theft in the UK. Everyone has a story of a nicked bike, even with all the anti-theft gear. Who are these guys and were does the stuff go. Sounds like parts to me. If so, parts coming from anywhere but a dealer should be suspect. Why not set up a sting. Leave a bike out in a notorious spot and track the guys down who steal it. Then drop a 748 on their shins.
We have theft here in Japan, much of it done by foreign groups to send to Russia and SE Asia (cars), but nothing nothing like the US and the UK. What gives???

misterpink 23-Jan-2005 10:15

i dunno, but as a crime it doesn't seem to rate highly with the police who are understaffed and under funded - so bike crime is a hit-and-miss thing.
and i wouldn't be surprised that those doing the stealing know this - so it is a "soft" crime. not a lot of pressure from insurance companies to do something about it either.
a sting would be good tho' hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Mad Dog Bianchi 24-Jan-2005 05:55

I would imagine most of these things are being parted out. So, most of the parts come back into the system. Since most Duck riders are pretty stalwart folks (present company excepted), these stalwart folks may be buying stolen goods. I guess some dealers may be doing the same thing, but that would not be too wise. Accordingly, people buying parts should set up some kind of a sting to see if the same groups are supplying the system with a bunch of stolen goods.
My sisters old boyfriend was a notorious thief (I found out) and he stole from everyone and also claimed stolen goods with his insurance company. He built some nice cars, trucks and bikes, but it turned out he nicked a large part of the stuff. Finally got caught by two irate guys with pistols! who turned him over to the Sheriff. Anyway, some of you with thefts in your past should think of a good sting scheme and catch some of these outcasts.
