Hi mate, ive had two Imprezas one being the 5 door. What a superb flying machine they are, all be it a bit sparce on the interior.

0-60 in 6 secs including carrying the dog!:lol:

Just a word of warning. They are getting to be one of the most stolen vehicles with keys jobbie, where your house is burgled to get your keys!!
We have had two in two days here in my neck of the woods!

Id advise stopping away from them
There is a fault with the series one's engines. The oil pump is S@*t and the bigend's go and the piston hit the heads and you end up with a very big bill for a rebuild and its happend on 3 or 4 of my mates that have had them

Every performance car has the problems, none are bullet proof. I've had two myself and can honestly say i had no porbs.

Heres my mates site, he works with me and Scoobys are his hobby, could try asking your question on there.

My sister's boyfreind has two mitsubushi evo's better car than the scooby.:bouncy::bouncy:

I had a 1993 WRX a few years ago. Within 2 weeks I got rid only because I was at the petrol station far to often for my liking.
They are good fun but it encouraged wreckless driving as every one wanted to race you.
Why not look at the Subaru Legacy, Not a chavvy either

MaccLad 22-Jan-2005 21:37

Cracking motor, got mine new in 2000, put 100,000 in three years. Had a ferocious appitite for Tyres (8-12K miles), Brake disks and Pads (20K).
Nothing at all went wrong in those 100,000 miles. A proper tool. Moved up to a company Mondeo now!

I agree with Festa748, having had two mitsubushi evo's myself 5 & 6, but not bullet proof I ended up putting a g/box in both, mate of mine works for a company who prepare wrc rally cars, they do work on a few of there customers cars as well, he reckons that the two main faults with the evo's is the g/box and the yaw control, and fuel compsumption......forget it !

Sparkin. I am currently looking at getting a 5dr sport myself. Take a look on:

www.imprezasport.net

Loads of owners and some good advice (some crap too of course).

JohnDa 25-Jan-2005 00:26

Try http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/ as well.

I've got a '98 Impreza sportwagon (non turbo).

It is a great car, plenty of room and very reliable but it is quite heavy on petrol.
I get about 30 mpg on a motorway run and maybe a bit less round town.
Mines done 45k without a hiccup.
Sevicing is expensive though, a normal service and cam belt cost me £400 - still not as expensve as a Ducati though :D

I'm selling mine because I'm in the army and going abroad for 6 months and I don't want it stood for all that time but to be honest I won't be buying another one when I get back, its too thirsty for what it is and would probably be selling it anyway.

If you don't mind petrol and servicing costs then they are not a bad motor and very reliable, plus 4 wheel drive.

Ozz 26-Jan-2005 19:30

Hey if you are selling let me have the details!

Ok,

Its a '98 on an 'S' plate
Its done 45k
Until last year had a full Subaru Service History but after the 45k service (done when it had done about 38k) I've serviced it myself because its only a case of oil, plugs, filter etc
Just MOT'd it on 24th Dec so its got almost 12 months MOT

2 bad points.

its white
my neighbour backed into the left front wing and put a dink in it, the Subaru dealer quoted me £120 to have it done.

Other than that its tip top and its been a cracking motor, I've only got one complaint about it and thats it uses too much petrol for a family car.
I've tried to take a photo but its too dark really, here it is anyway.
Going cheap to save it from standing and depreciating while I'm away. Otherwise I'll probably hang onto it and part-ex it for a diesel when I get home.

Looks ok from what I can see!

Couple questions though:

Where are you
How much are you after
Will the 90k service be done soon (due when 6 years old)

PM me if you want to take it off forum.

icarus 27-Jan-2005 20:12

Sorry mate, sold it today.
