It seems a few people have the Diasec ones (Diamond Security). These are the ones I was planning to get.

Not sure I will just yet though as they most likely won't be allowed for Desmo Due. Can't see the 996 being on the track too much this year, maybe for the TA's ...

andyb 29-Jan-2005 14:55

Yes i must admit i was looking at them too...

TP 29-Jan-2005 14:59

I didn't get this weeks MCN but they have been advertising in there for as low as £130 for a set. Not sure if that includes the set with the heatshield though.

I'll be at Ally Pally tomorrow so I'll let you know if I see them and how much they are.

Oh, and I should add, in answer to your question, that they are consider the low to mid range in terms of quality and there are some that are supposed to be a lot better. For me, I think they are enough. I think Weeksy has a set as well for racing. Could be wrong on that one though.

I got a set for christmas. I've got nothing really to judge them against but they appear well made, get the tyre nice and hot and are easy to fit. £130 from Diamond Securities via Ebay.

Dont forget that depending on the track you go to you may need a 2KW genny as well.

Argos do a good range of electric blankets...some even have 3 heat settings !!:lol::lol:

I've got the Diasec ones - they work a treat.

Originally i bought a set of Motrax ones but they packed up first time out so I got my money back.

Having had both the comparrison between quality is a million miles apart.

andyb 30-Jan-2005 11:01

I am having to restrain myself as the sparco ones do look bling, but i guess wont do that much of a better job than the diasec ones.

revdecal 30-Jan-2005 11:30

I had Diamond security for 2 yrs racing and had no problem, heat well, durable and cheap!
Dont go anywhere near the Motrax ones (even if they are £120!)
I had 3 sets in a row and each one had a warmer fail after 1 track session. They have a really bad reputation in the 'paddock' so its better to pay a bit more and have some reliability.

Says it all really, thanks for your experience guys.

When I get some methinks it will be diasec.

Cheers,

TP

When you look at their prices on their website the superbike ones are £150!!

They have been selling a lot on ebay, and looking at the history their reserve met is at £130!

Do you fancy making them an offer for two sets, or more if people are interested?

TP 30-Jan-2005 12:17

Depends on what comes out in the tyre rules for Desmo Due.

If there's no tyre warmers allowed I may as well wait a bit because I won't be on track on the 996 much this year. If it's allowed with Desmo Due then I'm deffo in, along with another 25 odd people.

andyb 30-Jan-2005 12:18

Cant understand that. I would of thought for safety you'd require tyre heaters! ;)

Now you wouldn't be trying to influence the rules committee would you???

Harv748 30-Jan-2005 12:49

Two things:

I think the Diasec ones are approx £130 for the standard and £150 if you get the ones with a built in 'heat shield' which stops the warmer burning on the underseat piping on a Duke...worth considering rather than frying/melting the warmers first time out on the exhaust.

Also, a few of us tried some time ago to get a group deal on these...including Nelly (trade) yet no joy. They simply were not interested which seemed a real shame:puzzled:

rockhopper 30-Jan-2005 22:17

Only the 996 748 type bikes need the heat shield. Like i said, get them via ebay for £130.
