Castle Combe - 4th or 18th of May These are the dates with Castle Combe racing school between the Cadwell round and the Castle Combe round. There may be others who do TD's there, please let us know if you know. They are all Wednesdays so no option of not taking a day off work for me unfortunately. Anyone up for this? Let me know. TP NB - Please note, 105 db noise restrictions are here and they're quite anal apparently. [Edited on 30-1-2005 by tp-996] |
Ali and I are both booked on for the 18th May..... join us PS..yes they seem very very strict about leathers .. noise etc etc... Phil [Edited on 31-1-2005 by fil2] |
On Noise read very very very strict, basically as your bike sounded when it came out of the showroom, I may see if I can have half day off work and pop along and watch. Haven'y got the money spare to pay for a trackday but as I'm use to approaching the corners at Fireblade and 916 speeds I'm sure I'll cope when the race comes and i'm on a 600SS. |
105 dB is pretty loud and the desmodue limit anyway if you are using those bikes. |

I have never ridden at Castle Coombe and cannot turn up for a race without at least an idea of how the track runs. A brief practise on the sat am will not cut it for me. I have decided to forgo some luxury's on the bike to enable the track day cost Kev. Phil. PS.. Dunno about your bike but mine flys........LOL.. [Edited on 31-1-2005 by fil2] |

U comming along then Tp..??...more the merrier and we can swap tips lol... Phil |
I've just booked up for the 18th too - not sure if I'll be able to whack the standard Monnie cans back on there and have enough ground clearance? I might take the ZX too, I'll just bung the standard exhaust back on that if there's a problem with the Monster. Now I'm off to book up some more trackdays prior to racing - anyone share their trackday schedule so we can hook up? Ta Tim:ninja: |

as it happens, assuming i dont do the race then i may offer the bike out. i dont want to commit to anything in case my plans change and i have to let anyone down. but if im not using it, it will be something i will consider. |
I received the bumpf through the post this morning. The bike must 'be up to full MOT standards', elsewhere 'Road Legal bikes over 250cc'. Noise: "The limit is 105db(A) at 3/4 max revs measured 1/2 metre from the exhaust." Elsewhere (twice): "The days are not test days for our race meetings.":rolleye::rolleye::rolleye::lol: Cheers, ali |

Does that mean I have to have lights fitted? |
not if its got a daylight mot |
Castle Combe trackdays The Noise limit is 105dB(A), measured at 0.5m from the exhaust outlet at 3/4 max revs I haven't got this years ACU handbook yet and I can't find my 2004 copy so this is from the 2003 Roadrace rules ACU The limit is 105dB(A), measured at 0.5m from the exhaust outlet at 45 degrees @ 5500 rpm for a 600cc twin A few hundred revs and a angle of 45 degrees makes quite a bit of difference. |
ive done castle combe in cars- its like thruxton -- and yes they are strict on noise cos of the local villages several cars got tested and stopped!!! but is a great track altho a bit bumpy- going into quarry is unnerving until you get the braking point just right the rest of the track is sweeping bends and chicanes no tight hairpins and camp (the lasst corner) is a real out braking bend- get it right its brill - top tip use the kerbs!!!!!!!!any track days at thruxton?? |
Camp now has a chicane for the bikes it was added last September just before the BSB non championship meeting. I suspect it will be in use for all future Bike meetings |
i'll get me coat:barfy: |

What about if its less than a year old? Don't seem right to me!!! Guess I'll just wait for the paperwork to come through and give them a call. Tim:ninja: |
18 May - Booked! |
The paperwork just mentions a road-bike with Exhausts less than 105db - not sure if they'll take track fairings though?? Tim |
