Redruth 01-Feb-2005 10:43

THE PRIZES

1. A subscription to motorcycle magazine of your choice. As I don't buy them, I don't know what that would cost but looking at MCN's e-subscription it's £100 for the year (52 issues). The value of the prize may vary if you choose say 3 or 4 mags for a year which I'm assuming would cost about 100 quid or one mag for 4 years - you get the picture, anyway.

2. If you haven't already signed up for it, TA4. For non members, this prize will include one year's membership. For members, I'll throw in a couple of tanks of fuel.

3. If you've already signed up for TA4, the entrance fee for the Brand Hatch trackday in October, which is more expensive I think so won't include the membership fee - sorry. So if you're not a member, you may have to join!

4. £100 towards any item/ you buy on e-bay during the month of February. You have to be able to prove you bought it. Now that will give you an incentive to spend money on your Desmo Due bike or give you a licence to buy even more bike bling if you believe you are a prize-winning Know All :lol:

And the final prize ... it's going to be "Open The Box". A lot of you won't remember that show but it goes like this ...

Audience:

"Take the Money"

"No, Open the Box"

"Take the Money"

"Open the Box"

And there are no clues as to what the box contains but if no-one opens it I shall keep it because I want one anyway.

I shall be lodging £100 with Chris Bushell as Club Treasurer, just in case there is any suggestion of the prizes not materialising ...

Good Luck :sing::sing::burn:

Redruth 01-Feb-2005 10:45

In number 4 that should read "item/items"

Redruth 01-Feb-2005 10:56

For those who haven't looked at the "Everybody loves a Know All" thread, these prizes relate to that competition. Sorry, should have made that clear in the title :lol:

Aww... come on girl, you could at least describe what your box looks like :puzzled:

Redruth 01-Feb-2005 13:08

I cannot be any more specific than I've already been, sorry. It's a bike-related prize, as you would expect. That's all I'm saying. :devil:

Well what a fantastic offer you lot !!!!!!!!
c'mon get asking your techie Questions
then the answers will be forth coming :D

Redruth 01-Feb-2005 22:00

Thanks for the support Mav. It is a fantastic offer, isn't it. I'm beginning to wonder what posessed me. And in case anyone else is wondering that too, (but too afraid to ask because it's not a sufficiently technical question ... although some psychologists might think it is ... I digress...)

I just thought it's time to put something back into the club that's been a hoot for the last 9 months. Usually, after a nine month period, I've produced ... what, a baby or two... passed a few exams... built an extension ... I was just feeling a bit unproductive ....

So, that's all I have to say on the matter (audible sigh of relief).

Let's have a few more questions to tax our Know Alls brains. :bouncy::roll::bouncy::roll:

Redruth 03-Feb-2005 00:08

BUMP

Redruth 03-Feb-2005 14:30

Right. I've sent the prize money to Chris Bushell as club Treasurer, so when the winner chooses the prize it'll be Chris who is responsible for paying for it. I'm nothing if not good at delegating! ;)

... except for the one in the mystery box, which I hope to have to hand before the end of February. :ninja:

I'm keeping an eye on the 'quiz' but have to say the questions are not coming in that thick or fast .... well, I've maybe posted a couple of thick ones but that's only to be expected. :D

So, if anyone has any questions that they are just too afraid to ask, U2U them to and I'll post :roll::roll:

Actually Ruth it was called Take your pick and the origonal compere was Michel Miles.
Of course you are far too young to be expected to remember this

Redruth 05-Feb-2005 12:30

Calling Chris Bushell. You have U2U.

Cheers
Ruth

Redruth 07-Feb-2005 19:05

Chris, now you have e-mail, as you've read your U2U but are clearly trying to pocket the money for the Desmo Due boys (and girl).

:o:sniff:

Redruth 12-Feb-2005 23:12

4th Prize - a (slightly damaged) Dunlop 208 RR rear tyre.

5th prize - my old 190 Pirelli Dragon rear tyre (still in Dibble's garage as far as I know)

Actually, there's a thought, could offload loads of junk - prizes 6 - 50 - all the cr@p I have in my garage.

Sor'ed! :D:D:D:devil:

I'll take that manky old 996 you have got in there!;):lol::lol::lol:

Loz 13-Feb-2005 09:31

Bravely said, Keefy!

Now, do you prefer grapes or sweets, and what sort of flowers would you like?
:lol:

Redruth 13-Feb-2005 10:48

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Loz is right, Keefy B. Back Off :devil::devil::devil:

The only way I shall ever relinquish my 996 is if I stop riding it due to the fact that I'm running a 600 for racing and an MV Augusta for prestige.

So you'll have a very long wait, mate. :frog::frog:

Redruth 25-Feb-2005 09:32

And just to remind people what the prizes are that the Know All Quiz winner will be choosing from!
:roll::roll::roll:

Redruth 05-Mar-2005 23:36

I've made up my mind but am waiting for verification by my fellow judges. CK has already endorsed my choice but need the others to get back to me by 6 pm tomorrow evening.

:roll::roll:

andyb 05-Mar-2005 23:41

Does this deliberation mean my " how many women does it take to decide a prize winner" question is up there?:o:pig:

AK 05-Mar-2005 23:48

oy, I resemble that comment, NOT:P

the deliberation lasted one evening here, and the full result has gone in to the adjudicator;):D

Charlotte

Redruth 06-Mar-2005 19:19

I promised to post the result by 6 pm so apologies for slight delay. I haven't been able to get hold of Dickieducati but am pleased to announce that 100% of those present and voting have unanimously agreed the there has been a tie:-

NBS (Nick) and Skidlids (Kev) are joint winners
:sing::sing::sing:

So you can each choose one prize from the list - with one exception. There will be no squabbling over the 'open the box' option as this will not be available to either of you. Instead, I shall be awarding this prize to Shazaam for his unending dedication and willingness to spend so much time and effort answering everyone's questions. So, Shazaam, I'll be needing your postal address in California and hoping you like what's inside. Here's a clue. It's fragile!

Thanks to all those who played a part. I want to mention Monstermob and Iconic for their involvement and Nelly because if he wasn't so good a mechanic, he'd have more time to spend on his computer answering questions, as he so very often does.

:bouncy::bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

Redruth 06-Mar-2005 19:24

And that decision has just been endorsed by Dickie, who with typical disregard to his judge's responsibilities, has been out playing on his bike. :lol:

So. Congratulations to all. I think there may be a bit of a prize giving at the next little DSC get together some time in the fairly near future ;):D

NBs996 06-Mar-2005 19:38

Aw shucks ruthie, I'm touched!

I would've had a speach prepared but in the presence of such great competitors I didn't think I'd need one!

I'd like to thank my mummy, who never wanted me to get a bike;
CK and AK for feeding me at christmas, without their kindness I'd no doubt have wasted away through January and not been able to compete;
My sponsors, if I had any;
My Physics teacher, god rest his soul, for his patience and understanding over the incident which led to the school being evacuated;
and last but not least, Ruthie, just for being Ruthie! ;)

:bouncy:

skidlids 06-Mar-2005 19:39

Very decent of you Ruth but I didn't do it for a prize it was done for a bit of fun and because its something I try to do anyway.
I would rather you used the prize to get your self a decent paddock stand or what ever else you should have for the bike that you haven't got, or put it towards some more tracktime for yourself.
Or failing that while on the subject of Shazaam maybe pay for his club membership (or maybe he should be a honorary member anyway) and get Pronto sent out to him.

Oh Skidywids. That's so sweet. Well, I absolutely agree with paying for Shazaam membership. Chris Bushell said he thinks he may be an honorary member but there's no badge by his name. So yes, consider that done.

As for paddock stands - that's a done deal with Rattler
And track time - I'm doing that anyway with virtually all of me holiday for this year, apart from the days I need for a ride to Bologna in August.

I tell you what - let's put the balance of your cash prize (after paying the £25 membership for Shazaam) towards BBQ and a few wine boxes at TA4. What do you reckon? :bouncy::sing::sing::bouncy:

monstermob 998 06-Mar-2005 20:47

thanks for the mention -two very worthy winners-very usefull guys on the site -glad i got the opportunity to ask a few numpty questions- just one more question tho -wheres my little round ducati badge next to my name or is there some sort of secret initiation involved as well as parting with the best £25 ive spent all year? :D

NBs996 06-Mar-2005 20:49

email to webteam@ducatisportingclub.com saying "Oi, where's my little ducati logo?!!" should do the trick.
You have to learn the hand-shake too.

The initiation is secret ... that's why you don't know about it! :P:devil::lol: Thanks for playing Monstermob. Judge Dickie was particularly impressed with your input, I believe. You might like to speak to him about that :lol::lol:

monstermob 998 06-Mar-2005 21:04

to be fair to everyone ruth i only sent the cheque off a fortnight ago -then there was a scare when lizzie's post was stolen and i realise that its all volunteers - a few,doing so much for so many( believe me ive been there)and i'm a patient sort of bloke any way-- but hey the best bit is now i have a sticker on the back of the carand on the screen of the bike!!!!! and when all my winter weekend commitments are finished i'll be able to meet a few of you out and about
:cool:

skidlids 07-Mar-2005 00:37

It is also a problem sometimes for Lizzie to match up Board names with peoples actual names on their membership forms. Sometimes a U2U or email will clear things up.

monstermob 998 07-Mar-2005 07:41

hey look what ive got!!!thankyou lizzie dickie the initiation wasnt so hard after all:lol:

Redruth 07-Mar-2005 09:07

The quiz is over but my curiosity obviously not placated!

What's a 'carand' Monstermob?
