Prizes!

Well the incentives are coming in thick and fast now, for the entrants in this series to try harder!

I am now holding a cheque from Red Ruth, for a meaningful amount of money that will be awarded to one lucky winner. Terms and conditions will be published later.

Also Tony Brancato will award a prize to the 1st 583 bike home at the end of the season.

I trust the prizes will be on a laddered scale from 1st to last ...LOL..cant have the guys up front winning it all..after all placing top 3 is enough of a prize for them..its the lower places that need rewarding...heheheh

good work Chris

So if that means bikes that are still 583's then I think that prize will go to Chi! He'll be the only one running one!

"to big-bore or not to big bore" that has been the question on my mind over the weekend.

Depends on the prize being offered by Brancato (which I haven't seen anyone thank him for yet - so Cheers Tony!), but unless absolutely no-one (and I will need that confirmed in writing) runs a standard 583 then I'm going down the big-bore route.

AK 07-Feb-2005 18:02

chi - Alan is counting his pennies for the big bore kit.

If we dont have enough dosh - it will be running the bog std 583.

There are more pressing things that MUST be done to the bike before racing at the mo.

CK, racing on a shoe-string:)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the cheque I sent Chris was for the 'know all' quiz prize. Ali told me on Saturday Chris was labouring under the misapprehension that it was for Desmo Due in spite of what I thought were quite clear instructions. So on Saturday I U2U'd him. He's read the U2U but he's still trying to keep it for you lot, so now I've e-mailed him. If anyone is speaking to him, in the next day or so, can they have a word, please?

Not that I wouldn't happily put a prize for this too, but I'm not MADE OF MONEY :frog::frog:

ChrisBushell 07-Feb-2005 19:13

Ruth,

Many appologies, I have posted this up incorrectly, found that my son read your U2U so therefore have only just picked it up.

Feeling duely humble at the moment and sorry boys

Monty 07-Feb-2005 19:24

Don't forget there will still be the JHP prize for the 'Best Prepared Bike' to be judged by the man himself.

Not quite up to speed on these things but I don't think it's illegal to slap children yet.

I fully intend to start the season with a 583 machine and see how I get on, if I find I'm on a bike that is completely out classed then I may have to consider the big bore route, but I would like to be on the grid with a bike that owes me around £1500 to £2000.
The fact I have known about the prize and trophy offered by Tony and Donna for a good few weeks now it hasn't influenced my decision to run a 583cc bike, maybe in my talks with Tony and Donna I have maybe helped influence their decision to offer a prize for such a bike, giving those without a large budget (for some the cost of a 675cc kit and also the fitting of it) a prize REALLY WORTH trying for.

ChrisBushell 08-Feb-2005 00:29

Ruth

I know that they haven't changed the law yet, but when said son is 6'3", about 105kgs, with attitude, one needs to treat same with some respect!

Chris

P.S. Wait till he asks for some money to go out this weekend!

Mark 08-Feb-2005 07:54

6'3" Stone me, what have you been feeding him on! How old is he?

ChrisBushell 08-Feb-2005 08:28

He is 17 and still geting taller and stronger!

Mark 08-Feb-2005 09:20

I am still lucky, step son is 17, and about 4 inches smaller, and not as broad sholdered.

But as they say, the bigger they are, the harder they fall!

Right - that's it!! I'm definitely going to be running a big-bore. Your reputation is such Kev that I know I wouldn't even be close!

Mark 08-Feb-2005 09:53

And what reputation would that be then? (he has many) :frog:

Hello D/due racers,

Just a small explanation on our equally small prize!.

It's £ 100 for the highest/best placed 583cc bike by/at the end of the series.
We will also have a trophy made to be awarded along with the cheque.

As yet the trophy shape is undecided, any suggestions?, ideally needs to reflect the 'desmo'aspect.

I should also explain that all this came about, due to the very friendly Kevins duo, or should that be 'due'?, enthusing about the whole D/D thing at our premises.
Myself and Donna though it might encourage the financially challenged to at least have something to aim at, (plus putting something back into what provides our livelihood) sorry it's not more!.

Well I think thats excellent. Thank you for helping to support our series :D

dickieducati 09-Feb-2005 10:02

superb offer and a really nice gesture.

ChrisBushell 09-Feb-2005 10:04

Tony,

Is that for a 583 bike or one that was originally a 583?

Chris

DrA 09-Feb-2005 19:54

Interesting question!

Our prize was intendeded for those competitors who are perhaps just starting out in racing and are doing it on a basically standard machine.

As it looks likely that the overall winner will be on a tuned and probably enlarged engine, we thought that this would encourage the 'B' teams.

Therefore it must be the 80mm bore x 57.8mm stroke that = 583cc, t5his of course means the older and cheaper SS/Monster range.

We are fully aware that such a machine fitted with the larger bores will be impossible to identify it as such by a visual external examination, but we are sure that every body who sits on, never mind rides a Ducati, is above such tactics!.

We would leave it up to the organisers to take whatever investigative action they deemed appropriate. should some one be suspected of flouting this stipulation of our prize.

I hope that explains all.
