adam 07-Feb-2005 19:07

yep, coming soon here also.

cashburning748r 07-Feb-2005 19:09

Can anyone covert wmv to anything non windows! please...

chicken 07-Feb-2005 19:09

right click on the links and select "save as".

Not for the bandwidth challenged - 50 & 40MB files means you need to put the kettle on

madmav 07-Feb-2005 19:14

strange both working for me!

Monty 07-Feb-2005 19:38

Brilliant Mav mate, one of the things I have got to do oneday is go round the ring with Sabine. Interesting that that bike shot past her out of Bergwerk? and then disapeared-he must really know the ring as well.

John

yeti 07-Feb-2005 20:03

Shame the dork in the taxi couldn't keep his gob shut!

adam 07-Feb-2005 20:07

Monty that might be the same piece of film that I saw a while ago. he was a Dutch guy who died on the next lap.:(

TP 07-Feb-2005 20:16

He was FLYING! Past on the back wheel, then got it turned so quick and on his knee round the next right hander than up onto the back tyre again!

Simply awesome.

dave w 07-Feb-2005 20:45

Awesome....just like some of are Dorset rideouts

keefer 07-Feb-2005 20:55

bloody hell just watched the bike one, and I feel like I need to go and take my leathers off now. my harts still pumping.
Nice one Mav. will have to talk about getting down there some time

]Adam the guy you are on about was Jorund !

He did die on the ring after a bike/car had dumped some oil on the track

he lost the front end and hit the Armco!

he was probably the best rider the "Ring " HAD EVER SEEN!!!

BUT thats how easy it is to get it wrong on there

Treated with BIG RESPECT you wont get a better ride anywhere ;)

ps it Was not the next lap

Loz 07-Feb-2005 21:21

That bike video was truly exhilarating! I'm even more scared of the 'Ring now!
One day ... one day.

Loz there's absolutely no reason to be scared !

i'm sure if you went on a Dsc trackday for the first time without the briefing off Monty/wjb!

you would be scared;)

i'ts no difference at the ring !

and thats what i'm there for!;)

Loz 07-Feb-2005 21:32

More awed than scared, really - but still a little scared :D

Mind you, that BSB video of Cadwell freaked me out before TA 2.5, but now I love the track with a passion.

Like I say - one day!

bradders 07-Feb-2005 23:34

car vid - WOW!! just download the other one now.....looks like you may convince me yet oh mad one

madmav 07-Feb-2005 23:43

lol ! bradders

i'm sure once we get a few of you out there ,it will become a pilgrimage for you guys;)

Iconic944ss 07-Feb-2005 23:49

Just viewed the Brendan vid and am very impressed....

I love the way ALL cars are humliated by the bikes but,

very worried by just how narrow the track seemed in places (bridges???).

Frank

madmav 07-Feb-2005 23:54

Frank it's quite wide when you are on it!

but you do have to check ya mirrors on the straight bits some of the cars can come up on you a bit quick!

all in all no-one wants to deliberately crash with u !
it's all a game of respect

But when you wind the throttle back you do get a feeling of yeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Bloody Awsome:lol:

nathanhu 08-Feb-2005 00:01

mav your not wrong mate
once youve got a taste for it its hard not to go back

MARTIN H 08-Feb-2005 01:17

Is the bike lap record still held by an RC30? or am I years behind? Was it 7 minutes 40 something seconds? I know some road cars a few years ago were doing sub 8 minute laps? Skylines and Porshes etc. Was there a Caterham that beat them all? I know I have an old video somehere of Jackie stewart doing a lap in a F1 car sometime in the 1970s and it was unbelievable.

Theres a few of us driving down to Monaco for the grand prix in May and as I am in charge of sorting the route out I have thought about including the ring without telling anyone. The lads I am going with wont even know what country there in most of the time so it should be a nice surprise for them. Unfortunatly its looking more likely we will be going in the cars as my bike mates cannot make it this year and I dont really fancy chasing round on the bike with 2 nutters in 911s.

Every year I say I'm gonna do it and never do.

Looks scary (in a good way!)

madmav 08-Feb-2005 01:31

martin i'm in monaco with 20 bikes first week in may!
then i'm in germany 2nd week in may! if u wanna hook up u 2 u me!///////////////////mav

Martin Dower 08-Feb-2005 02:57

I love the 'Ring. It is heavenly but I have only done it in a car. Planning to do a public day on the bike this year though. Can't wait. IIRC the car lap record has just been broken in a Carrera GT; 6:42 rings a bell. A lot of *semi* road legal Radicals rack around in under 7 mins! Best I have done is a short 9, it's one of the few places (Spa included) where I feel myself holding my breathe in some of the sections. Truely awesome and should be something you do before you die :)

rockhopper 08-Feb-2005 09:37

You need to get your web site sorted Mav, that must put people off booking with you.

...not JUST before hopefully

Martin Dower 08-Feb-2005 15:15

The fearsome reputation of the Ring is not really that deserved. It is more dnagerous than Cadwell, Oulton or other places and does lose 30 bikers a year but most incidents do tend to be in the "danger zone" 50-100 laps completed where you think you know it and then concentrate at less than 110%.

It is also pre-dominantly a road-based surface and many seem to forget that it is not super grippy and super smooth.

beancounter 08-Feb-2005 16:23

"does lose 30 bikers a year"

Oh good, not TOO dangerous then

madmav 08-Feb-2005 16:28

And it gets about half a million visitors a year on there !!!!!!!:smug:

madmav 08-Feb-2005 16:29

A lot bloody safer than riding through LONDON at 5 oclock on a friday night !

keefer 08-Feb-2005 16:31

when you say lose.
I don't think your talking about them getting lost in the wood section are you ?
ive got to go :P

BDG 08-Feb-2005 17:37

Any chance ahe can give us a lift to the AGM?

beancounter 08-Feb-2005 17:41

sparkin 08-Feb-2005 20:39
