Leathers What are you guys doing about lids leathers etc.......Im sure like most i have a couple of sets....1 Very good matching etc the other good but not matching and older, same with lid etc......if you have 2 or more good sets that fit and match great but if not what are the thought. Wear the best you have to feel good and look good and offer great protection and run the risk of scuffing the hell outa them or Wear the older set not so fitting etc but dont care if you scuff them..?? Just curious ps...NO weighing the leathers guys... Phil |
i've only got one set of everything. reasonably good condition so i will use that stuff and if i come off and ruin anything will then get some new ones, rather than shell out now. |

AND you are a lean mean fighting machine now.....:ninja: |
As the mans says, Ebay etc for low cost kit. The big rule is obviously wear the best protection you can, but bank on falling off and see how your budget for racing goes when you've wrecked your £400 Arai, £1000 leathers, £100 gloves and £200 boots - not funny. I bought two excellent sets of Wolf leathers for £125 each, one set has been crashed several times and still usable, (go well with the state of my CB500, but Monty would not allow me to wear them on the TZ  ). The other set are still in the loft unused. My expensive No Limits leathers that my sponsor:lol: insists I wear, actually slow me down because I don't want to fall off and mess them up. WeeJohnyB |
"My expensive No Limits leathers that my sponsor insists I wear, actually slow me down because I don't want to fall off and mess them up." Is that a fact? Would this be by any chance the same 'expensive set of leathers' that I have seen at MJK scuffed to hell and back-you know, the ones you fell of wearing at least 4 times last season to my certain knowledge??;) John |
I only have one set of leathers at the moment, I didn't have a one piece suit before I committed to the series so I bought some from Ducati while we were in Italy. I'll have two lids, two pairs of boots before we start though. Maybe I should think about gloves as well. Hrmmm |

u r not going to where them nice corsa ducati leathers are you..!! i heard they are a bit heavy and offer to much wind resistance.? |
bugger! anyone want a set? are they ok now, but if people feel they are being dissadvantaged will i have to get rid of them?:lol::lol: |

Dont do that !!!! your 655big bore kit will compensate any hiderance offered by them shiny leathers. Phil |

Yep :D Too many poncey white bits on them, need to give them that worn in look ;) I don't know how Ange would take me asking for another set just now. Are there people doing repairs at the rounds if I put a hole in them or something? |
I'll have to wear my new leathers cos that's all I've got that will be allowed on the track. Phil's right though - they are bluddy heavy so I'm going to cut off the arms and legs for that lederhosen look! |

Better shave them leg and arm hairs then dont need any wind drag............................. Phil |

oops - I'd better lose the parachute then! |

 PS. Tony ... like the new avatar there mate. Got something you want to share with the group? |
Just having some problems with my Desmosedici avatar ... Will sort it out shortly. |
Dear friend, mentor, owner, mechanic, tyre technician, fuel filler, transportation manager, 'Betsie bus' driver and chief bacon buttie maker - regarding your sarky comment about me falling off 4 times 'to your certain knowledge', said leathers are in fact now repaired, however, they appear to have shrunk over the winter. How are your new leathers looking dear boy:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: WeeJohnyB |
I've got a couple of sets of leathers, will use the older ones for the series and keep the others (lovely black Ducati Corse ones) for when the first set get either; - knackered, coz I've binned 'em - or soaked thorugh in the first race at Cadwell!!! I've got 2 lids as well, the same rules apply, the Arai is for best and the Suomi is for worst!!! But I don't have 2 sets of gloves or boots - ebay; be my friend!!! Tim:ninja: |
I have 2 sets of leathers, one too tight the other too loose, If i cant lose enough weight by april I will join dibble in a donut eating competition so at least one set fit, only got 2 stone left too lose and my cowardly streak:frog: 2 helmets and a multitude of Gloves some not a matching set (I am a compulsive cheap glove purchaser), 1 set of boots and half a brain. dave |

Don't crash in the what ever you do!!!!!, they will fall apart like a cheap watch:( Mine did. |

Well I'm not planning on it, but hopefully they will last a bit better than that :puzzled: |
Have a look inside TP, see if you have double stiching on the joints. The reason mine started to fall apart was because of only single stiching. I don't blame Dainese because they are only being made by them for Ducati. |

Looks to be double stitching - phew :D |
I bet I copt for a friday job:barfy: |

Which ones are yours Jon? |
Dainese ducati performance:( |
If anyone is looking for some new leathers I have a one piece astar set that have only been worn a couple of times sat in my wardrobe that I would probably sell. ok, so technically they are not Ducati colours, but they are good quality :) |

What sort of spill opened them up? |
First one was at caddy td3. Lost the front going into charlies one. Right shoulder decked down first. Tore the kevlar from the inside of the arm. Scuffed the leather on the r/h shoulder, it had also started the pull the grenn & red stripe off. The at Rocky at td4, lowside at the crested right hander. This pulled the shoulder joint open to the point that I could not wear them untill they were repaired. I had had them fixed durring the winter and had double stiching put in at certain points. |
Hrmmm ... will keep an eye on them. |
Guys, This is what mine look like after a 20 MPH lowside. I think I've craked a rib or two also. Bloody sore for the last four days since the crash. Hopefully insurance will cough for there replacement. Any suggestions guys. |
